Javier and his wife were amazing. We booked a place, but once we got there, there was a different family in the place. Javier and his wife immediately came and took us to another one of their properties. Once we arrived, our room was perfect. It had what we needed (a double bed, bunk beds, and a private bathroom). The beds were comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. They also opened their store for us, so we were able to buy some snacks (it was Christmas Eve and late). In the morning, Javier made us a huge breakfast that was delicious! They helped us immensely by being patient with us using Google translate and offering to drive us to the airport to get a rental car. (We found a car in town however).

All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. To receive tax exemption, foreign citizens must pay for their stay upon entry in foreign currency (not Chilean pesos) or with a credit card issued abroad and present a valid passport along with the migration card they received upon entry into the country. If a person subject to paying the tax and another exempt from the same share a room, the rate may be applied to the entire room.
