Having read the previous reviews, I chose this hotel with some misgivings and only because a couple of my other choices were full. Maybe it has been refurbished since the last reviewers visited it; anyway I could see nothing wrong with it except it was a bit expensive for budget travellers. The service was courteous, the room was clean, comfortable and airy, and the breakfast was good. The only slight complaint was street noise, but those multi-tone car alarms are so widespread in Chile that you would have to go to the middle of the Salar de Atacama to avoid them!

All citizens of Chile, regardless of the duration of their stay, and all foreigners who stay in the country for at least 60 consecutive days may have to pay the national sales tax (19%) when checking out. To receive tax exemption, foreign citizens must pay for their stay upon entry in foreign currency (not Chilean pesos) or with a credit card issued abroad and present a valid passport along with the migration card they received upon entry into the country.
