Casa das Ilhas

We were very pleased with our stay at Casa Das Ilhas in the Paul valley. It is well located for walking on Santo Antao. Kate was an excellent and knowledgeable host. She helped us with transport to and from the ferry, which was invaluable. Also she organised for some friendly staff to carry our cases up the hillside, as it is a very steep fifteen minutes walk from the road. We had dinner and breakfast every day. The food was very nice and there was always plenty of coffee in the morning and beer at night! Casa Das Ilhas has a very eco-lodge, backpacker sort of vibe, which we enjoyed. There was always plenty of conversation around the dinner table, mostly about walking trails. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and cosy, with an excellent view. The shower was hot but sometimes the water pressure was down. Also the light in our room seemed to go dim at night. My only complaint was our room didn't receive much WiFi signal, but we went along to the dining room for coffee each afternoon and used the internet there. I would recommend Casa Das Ilhas if you are planning a trip to Santo Antao, particularly for walking and for the amazing mountain views.
