Alpengruss Motel

I have been travelling to the Wakefield, QC area for business for over three years. Have stayed at The Alp on many, many occasions. Some of the negative reviews here are so far off the mark. It’s a restored, older establishment so it *is* rustic but that is part of the charm. The hotel/motel has upgraded many of the rooms and they’ve never been unsatisfactory in any way. (I have stayed at all of the higher end hotels in downtown Ottawa and would pick The Alp over all of them.) So close to Ottawa. Ease of use at property location, ease of booking, beautiful setting. The important things are there in spades. CLEAN. Great service. Great value. Very responsive to inquiries, information or extras. The natural setting is gorgeous; a stone’s throw from the beautiful Gatineau River. Walking distance to all the many great shops, restaurants, pubs and live music venues in the Village of Wakefield, Quebec; a well-known year-round tourist destination known for its eclectic vibe. Home to dozens of artists, writers and musicians. It really is a diamond in the rough. There’s a reason The Alp is usually at capacity in the high season months. Wakefield also has an extensive network of walking and hiking trails, ski hills as well as nearby golf courses. I would – and have – recommended the Alpengruss many, many times and would not hesitate to do so in the future.
