Massey Motel

I called before I arrived just to make sure the motel is opened. I got caught in the rain when I rode my bike over from Espanola. The owner, Raymond concerned about how I bike tour by myself. Very sweet of him. The room is an average motel room but I like how instant the hot water comes out and that’s exactly what I need after riding in the rain. I also like how many cable channels I get access to compared to other motels. It’s very close to the restaurant called The dragon fly. I ended up staying one extra night because of the rain. Raymond offered to do laundry for me when I asked if there is laundry services in town. Also he lets me borrow a hair dryer and an umbrella.

Very friendly owner 

Room was clean. The Wi-fi worked fine. The owner was friendly and chatted with us outside our room for a while. Poirier's Confectionery and Pizza is around the corner and just south of Highway 17 on Imperial Street. The pizza is good but rises to the level of exceptional due to its location. Otherwise, there's not much to do or see other than Chutes Provincial Park, which is quite near. Or you can just sit outside your room and watch the traffic go by, which is usually what I do at motels anyway.

Pleasant Enough

The location suited us perfect to break up the drive. Not a lot of choice. The room was clean enough. Two decent restaurants within walking distance. Good bed. Room was dated. Wi-fi worked. Highway traffic, big trucks, do not run after midnight, which was nice.

Your average motel on a highway stretch

While this motel is by no means modern, it was clean and relatively comfortable. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We just needed a place to lay our heads between 2 vacation stops, and this fit the bill!

Straight from the '50's

This motel seems nice at first probably it being family owned is where they have each other's back...going in and out of rooms going through people's belongings. I witnessed very unusual behaviour being there. A block away is 
the Mohawk Motel where your stay is alot more comfortable. I recommend people go there you will notice everything is just better.

Well the manager was not very helpful although they were trying to be nice there were many flags they gave our room up to another guy supposedly she didn't mark down the number we stayed in so some guy walked in they came and dropped towels off and I noticed medication missing and not just that or we just went back to go grab our iron that's where it is there's nowhere else it could have been but hey my loss I would recommend highly recommend not to go there and give them any business they will talk about you and they may even prank you you have a man there walking around trying to be tough guy it's kind of a mother and daughter team feel sad for the people who are going to be renting their next for anybody should not go through this

This place needs  good scrub, many repairs and a coat of paint.  Unbelievable….
Bed sheets were clean (thankfully).  
Screen door windows so dirty couldn’t see thru…screen ripped so big flies from I dumped garbage cans along walkway getting in…floors gritty, etc etc..the whole package! :(

Keep going!!  There has to be better!!!

I was desperate for a nights sleep and traveling with a dog makes obtaining a room a challenge. Owner was nice enough, very talkative. I was put into room 12, you have to plug in everything you want to use, lamps, fan etc... toilet rocks when you sit down, runs almost constantly. The tub surround is coming off in places. In the bedroom section, you see rotten wood where there have been leaks, and not repaired. Creepiest part, there’s an door to the next room even though it’s says permanently closed off, I’m glad I had my dog to be on alert. Never again, I’ll pull off to a rest area before I waste $76 American dollars! 

Only if your desperate 

Be sure to ask to see the room before registering!  There are a couple of ok rooms (rooms nos. 12, 13, and 14  I think) which I have stayed in before.  However, this past trip - yesterday-  the room was horrible - toilet not flushing properly, no luggage table, depressing room - needs updating - maybe painting, a couple of pictures, no telephone, although my phone said that I was connected to the internet, wifi didn't work - couldn't send or receive emails (not good for a business); old bedding, TV was 1950s but it did work.
By the way, I asked for an 'updated' room but was give this one - room no.17, train was LOUD; poor value.  (I almost went to my car to sleep in it!!)
I do NOT recommend.  Will stay in Espanola (about 20 min. away).
