The location was amazing, and it was everything we needed, a bed, wifi, and a bathroom! It’s about two blocks away from the city’s main metro station, and because it’s on a very busy street, you can pretty much get everywhere on foot and by metro. Our room also had a great view of the Main Street.  
And now for the negatives. First things first, the smell. Oh my goodness did it ever smell bad, not so much in our room, but the hallway and stairwell were consistently horrendous. If you told me that somebody died there during my stay, I will wholeheartedly believe you. We bought an air freshener and would periodically spray the hallway, but it could only do so much. 
The owners were beyond rude to us. I was travelling with my boyfriend, and when they heard he had some Ukrainian heritage, they very seriously berated him for not speaking Ukrainian, “Shame on you”. I double checked with them that our key would open the front door too, and instead of just saying yes, the owner condescendingly clarified to me what a key was, how keys worked, and then, in front of strangers trying to enter the hotel, forced me to “open the door and prove to [him] that [I] know how keys work and how to use them.”  
They had no reservation for us and made me show him proof of reservation. 
He did tell us places we could eat, but told us to tell them that we were staying at his hotel and to pay cash under the table for discounts on taxes and the food itself. Sketchy. 
They were NEVER there. We were there for 5 days and only saw the owners that one time. Our room had no soap and we had no way of getting in touch with them to tell them this.  Although, one morning we woke up to a garbage bag of towels tied to our door handle! 
Lastly, the water pressure in the bathroom is bad. The toilet made this weird noise every time you went to the bathroom that made you paranoid that it wouldn’t make it, and shower was like standing in a soft rain.  

Great location, terrible owners. 

Very nice hotel on St Denis Street in the middle of restaurants and bars. We had requested a room not on the road. We had a very nice room in a quiet location. Very small bathroom, lacking more cooling. A few small points to look at in the room but given the price and the situation it is correct.

Not bad.

We stayed in this hotel because during the viewing they showed us a very nice room. The following month we came back to Montreal and we have decided to book this accommodation. They said the nightly rate was 80 dollars a night but when we arrived the price has changed to 90 dollars. We were given a basement room, down the filthy hallway, with a tiny washroom, very old bed, NO SMOKE ALARM FUNCTIONING when we tested it, HEAT DETECTOR was not functioning as well. I think this place should be closed down. It maybe in a good location but this is a very bad accommodation. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER AGAIN.

TERRIBLE, CRAPY ACCOMMODATION

Just don't go there if you hope a quiet and clean room! Allow yourself to advertise their rooms on Air BNB so they need customers!??? 2 hotels not side by side... no insured internet!!! but above all... rooms stuck on a bar open until 3am!

Arnack, no more!

The small hotel has clear traces of use, the furniture is stacked together and it's not too clean. However, you can reach almost everything on foot, it's in the middle of the action, the owners are nice and helpful. The airport bus is also only 2 minutes away.

But in the years to come perfectly situated

I was there for the Grand Prix and this was all I could afford.  Upon check in I was led up two flights of stairs to a dormer type room that at first looked rather charming.  Then I found out there was no cable for the tv ("You have free wi-fi!)  Wi-fi does little good when you want to watch the Stanley Cup or NBA finals! (The tv looked to be a 12 incher from the 70s) The room was very noisy at night and hot, as there is no air conditioning.  There is no maid service and I made due with two towels for five nights.  A very uncomfortable stay.

The good part was the location, two blocks from the Metro and within walking distance of many restaurants.

Avoid this place!

I took a bit of a gamble booking this hotel for Grand Prix weekend- I normally stay in the Hyatt or the Candlewood, but the location (next to airport bus stop, 5 mins from Berri / UQAM metro) and the value tempted me.

I booked 3 rooms, and was very happy.  Super friendly at check in, good discussions about current affairs and the British election and shown personally to the rooms.

The hotel is quirky, each room is different, but decorations and furnishings are good. Rooms very clean, good size for an older city hotel, beds comfortable and and bed linen great quality.

My one criticism is that the bathroom / showers are a little old.

Great Indian restaurant underneath, coffee shops opposite and on corner adjacent to the hotel, and Rue St Denis is full of bars and pubs.

Worked perfectly for me, give them a try.

Great value, great people, great location

This reminds me of the 1970/ 1960 rooming houses my father use to own.
The location was good and the owner was pleasant but the airconditioning was not functional and the only window opened onto a balcony where anyone could walk in.


Lovely owner... accomodations were below average

From the outside, the hotel looks like a '60s rented box. But the rooms are very lovingly decorated and centralist can't stay in this price range. The owner is super friendly and has lots of tips! If you're there by car, let me show you his buddy's parking lot because the parking lot around the corner is very, very expensive!

If I could write a note I'd do so many things to say for one night only spent at this hotel - Our first surprise the person who received us didn't speak French we're in Montreal even though he spoke only English but strangely understood what we were saying - NO COLD water (how did it get to the cold water) - a towel done with I don't know what (see photo) - strange things in the toilet when we arrive - hole in the walls leaving the insulation (see photo) - VU on work even the balcony floor with all rusty paint pots (happily we didn't have a child otherwise goodbye the damage) - with pixels fleeing from the image limit - it was very finite, we couldn't hear the conversations and it was a bad experience to end up with (if it wasn't)
