Village des Soleils

This was the first time we stayed at these condos, and we will be returning. We have found the best place for our needs in the Tremblant region. It's a 10 minute drive to the South Side of the Mountain (the side that's all developed) and 20 minutes from the North Side (much shorter lift lines on busy days). My first criteria is the bed. I'm a light sleeper, and if the bed's not comfortable, everything else doesn't matter. If I'm cranky or with a poor night's sleep, what kind of vacation can I have? The bed in our unit (2039) was as comfortable as home. The pillows and bed covers were clean, fresh and of a good quality. The kitchen is fully equipped. We were able ot bake pizzas, cook up some burgers (2 guests) and on one night, we prepared a full steak dinner. The dishwasher does a great job. The coffee machine isn't the Kurig kind you see everywhere now, but the same type (basket drip) we have at home. It being programmable makes waking up to the smell of coffee a real treat. Our condo looks out over Gray Rocks Mountain, through a wooded area. The view is quite nice. Maybe if they could trim down the trees a little it would be Walt Disney World perfect, but that's being a little picky maybe. The fireplace is wood burning, and having a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers after a day on the hill is wonderful as the wood (provided free) crackles and pops is such a beautiful apres ski experience. Note: the wood can be wet coming out of the shed, so grab it the night before and put it up against the electric radiators to dry out while you're on the slopes. There is a great chance to see some wildlife outside your window. Deer, blue jays, rabbits and chipmunks pass by in the evening and the morning. It's a peaceful and quiet environment, and these critters know that. The manager is Therese; and she's vivacious. She has a wonderful sense of humor, is very good at her job and you get the sense that she genuinely cares about the quality of your stay. We used to stay right on the hill at Mt. Tremblant and found this place b/c they were sold out when we wanted to go. What a lucky break. Yes, you don't have the opportunity to ski right outside your door; BUT... If you ski the North Side, the parking lot is right at the hill. You can drop your gear at the lift, park your car and you're on your way. And save about $50-$100 a night and are able to return to a much larger accomodation. A wonderful, wonderful place!
