We stayed one night at this hotel was very clean includes free Wi-fi, microwave, and refrigerator, And this hotel location is close to the town and on the right side of the hotel has a gas station too.Very good location for the family trip.

Great place to stay and great location

Bedding is old and didn't seem clean. The pool was too cold to go in and the hot tub was off. TV's are tube tv's. No restaurant. The staff is very hard to understand. When we left for the evening to a wedding the staff went in our rooms to drop off the hotel receipt. They should be slipping it under the door. Check out is 11am and the cleaning staff opened my door at 1030am to clean my room. Thank goodness I was dressed :)

Very Disappointed

The place has not been renovated in awhile.  Hotel still has tube TV. Quick to collect payment. Was charged prior to checking out. Wi-Fi was slow to no connection. The towels did not smell fresh. No elevator. The stairs and hallways were cramped.

A notch above a rest stop

The manager doesn't stay at the hotel during the day or night (that's your first clue). Our son and daughter in law were going to stay there with their children but were late getting there due to police closing the highway for an accident. They tried calling to advise the manager that they would be late but if he's not there to answer the phone...... 

Once they got there, their check in receipt and key card to the room along with other peoples, was on the desk waiting for them, out in the open for ANYONE to see... 

They had looked online for an adjoining room, booked that and were disappointed to see when they got there that it was not! Our daughter in law's sister and mother were going to stay in the adjoining room so they could help with the baby and watch the children. 

The room itself was in "ok" shape, needs some renovating and updating on linens and furniture. The room itself smelled musty and the tv was the old tube style which had a few lines through the picture. The pool was cold and the hot tub was covered!

The manager showed up and was very upset because the kids were late getting there! He said he wasted his time waiting for them but didn't check his messages either! Things went down hill from there.....

The kids pointed out that they booked an adjoining room and it wasn't, they also pointed out the tv but the manager said there was nothing he could do as they don't have adjoining room even though it shows on their website. The tv is fed by satellite and he said that is the issue. The manager was very upset and demanded that they pay him right then and there and was screaming at my son and daughter in law. Our son asked the manager to calm down and stop yelling but the manager just kept ranting. My husband (who has a disability) and I were in the room with the children and could hear the manager screaming all the way down the hall through a closed door!!! The children were crying at this point as they were scared of the manager....Our son and daughter in law got to the room and said "lets get out of here". We all grabbed their things and I headed out down the hall with the two older children in front of me. The manager could see that the kids were visibly upset and crying but kept yelling at us so as we passed by him I said that "he was a very rude man and a disgrace to Lac du Bonnet". By this time we reached the lobby door and he came charging at me yelling something and swearing...in front of the kids! I was holding the door open for the rest of my family and he ran up to me and tried to close the door on me at which point I yelled at him to "not dare touch me"....my daughter in law seen this happening and rushed over to us and the manager turned and grabbed the papers out of her hand, which our son seen and rushed to her to grab them back from the manager. By this time the children were hysterical thinking the manager is going to get them. The whole time the manager kept saying "I'm calling the police" with a phone in his hand. We got back to our place and our daughter in law called the police to let them know what happened in case the manager called them. The police said that NO, the manager had not called them but they did say that I could press charges against the manager as he was actually "physically" trying to close the door on me. I didn't press charges as we were very busy that weekend, I just won't recommend this hotel to anyone, EVER! Very unprofessional!

Do NOT Recommend, Poor Management

The online price was quoted and booked at $89/night on booking.com. Once we arrived at the hotel the owner then in fact would not charge me less than $109/night when I attempted to pay. We had already agreed to pay the higher price knowing booking.com would refund the difference, however he kept screaming at us to call booking.com, then told us to get out and that he was calling the RCMP on us. 

My entire hockey team (4 rooms booked in total) have many concerns about the safety of guests in this hotel, as the owner prints and leaves private guest information (full name, email, phone #, etc) and activated room access cards on the lobby desk unattended for anyone off the street to see and access. We were expected to sign for hotel charges and check ourselves in without employee assistance. 

The hotel restaurant that is advertised as an ammenity is closed. 

The pool and hot tub are poorly maintained, the temp of both is far below acceptable. The hot tub temp is lower than what most people would normally bathe in. The owner only turns the hottub heat on, once he sees that you are in it, but a hottub of that size takes a considerable amount of time to reach the proper temp. So if you dont stay in the cold water he comes and shuts the heat off again. The heat control is in a locked room. 

There is no hotel staff on premises 24/7 - and it takes the owner 30 min or more to return to the hotel if called (one set of guests accidentally locked themselves out of their room) so they had to sit in the hallway, as the lobby was also locked. He refused to provide more than one room key card to rooms that had 3 or 4 adult guests staying within. 

Also the checkin window until 11pm is untrue as he cancels all reservations that have not checked in prior to him leaving for the evening and locks the lobby at approx 7-8 pm. 
Once the lobby is locked, there is no access to a hotel phone to contact the owner. You must either have access to a personal cell phone with manitoba coverage, or have already checked into your room to use your room phone to contact them.  

The condition of the hotel was slightly sub-par. Our room smelled of mold or mildew and we were told the hotel was full so we could not switch rooms. The matresses were extremely worn and expected ammenities such as shampoo, conditioner and body lotion were absent. 

The absolute worst part of the stay was the temperment and sense of power that the owner had. He violently ripped my key card out of my hand and told me to get out of his hotel when I asked to switch rooms due to the smell. He almost hit me in the face with a clipboard price display when I questioned him why I was getting charged $109/night for 4 guests, when my teamate was being charged $99/night for 4 guests in the same room type. The owner also took the liberty to use his master key and let himself into rooms that were occupied and paid for by myself and my teammates without even knocking. Luckily all of the guests he barged in on were fully clothed. What a blatent disregard for Guest privacy. 

I would not ever stay here again or recommend anyone else to do so.
