Bed & Breakfast Chez Marie-Claire

We stayed one night in the king room. It was very nice and quiet. The owner is very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was great with many options.  The location is just an easy walk from the many restaurants you have to choose from. It seemed a bit pricey when I was looking at it but with free parking and breakfast included it was the going rate. I would stay here again.

We came for the Carnaval in Feb. This location is ideal and centrally located to all activities on foot. We were able to park our car (notification needed ahead of time as space is limited).  Our room was very clean and we had access to common areas where a small fridge and microwave were available.  I love the slipper basket as it was a snowy mess outside. We loved our breakfast which was generous and gave us a chance to meet the other traveler.  Very low key and enjoyable.   

We loved our recent stay at Chez Marie Claire. The location is amazing (close to everything you'll want to see in the old town), room we had was spacious and comfortable, and car parking was included. The shared lounge has a kettle, fridge, multiple couches and television/DVD. We found the location to be very quiet. I'm a fussy sleeper and had no trouble with the noise! 

A few points to note:
- car parking is limited, so keys are left with the staff to be able to move the cars if people are parked in
- breakfast is a mixture of fruit, cereal, pate, breads, and a changing hot dish each day. Theres also coffee, tea and juice - certainly enough variety for us each morning. 
- those with mobility issues may want to stay elsewhere. There's stairs to enter the building (we had to carry luggage up these and then through two front doors before getting into the accommodation). Once inside, there is one room on the entry level (in addition to the breakfast dining room), all others are up even more sets of stairs. 

Perfect location (parking included) walking distance to everything in Old Quebec.  
We stayed in a double room very spacious and clean; breakfast was excellent, we were able to meet other guest and enjoy a friendly conversation..
We wanted to stay longer but they were booked so we are definitively coming back.  
Awesome!

Where else can you find a comfortable place to stay withing walking distance of the Old City, where you can park your car on site, meet a most welcoming and informative host Pascal, and eat a delicious breakfastf?  Right here!

My hubby and I stayed here for 4 nights in late September to celebrate our anniversary.  Pascal is a wonderful host, and although he claims his English is not good, it is so much better than my high school French!  (FYI - High school was a LONG time ago!)  We stayed in the family room, as it was the only room available, even though it was just the 2 of us.  There are 3 full-size beds and I have to tell you, these are the most comfortable beds and linens I have experienced in quite some time.  And the breakfasts?  Well, they are very hardy and delicious!  The location of this B&B is perfect - in the old city, and within walking distance to all the attractions - Citadel, Hotel Frontenac, and so many awesome restaurants.  Pascal told us where the hidden treasures were, and encouraged us to try places we would not have found on our own. Incredible experience in an awesome location...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!  The only "drawback" ( and this is subject to perception) was that the parking, although off-street, did require Pascal to have your car keys so he could move cars around in his back courtyard.  We had a brand new car, and no one drives my husband's car but him, so we did not do this, but just giving you all a heads up.  Pascal is very nice and his female co-host does not speak English, so she and I had some fun with me trying to explain we had no shampoo, as I could not recall the French word for shampoo.  But the comfort of the room, the plentiful breakfasts and the premier location certainly overcame this very small issue.   Please stay here - you will not be disappointed!


We were looking for a place that was traditional and in which we could meet others and practice our French. This was a perfect spot inside the old city within walking distance to all the sites. As usual in these older traditional buildings, there is no elevator. Our rooms were on the second floor. The downstairs has a dining room with a table that seats 10 people for breakfast. Breakfast is substantial with 'continental' choices, bread, fruit, jam, cereal but don't fill up too much because the second choice is the hot breakfast which changes each morning, eggs and bacon, or crêpes, or french toast. Rooms were made up each day and towels and linens were changed every other day. We had a wonderful time visiting with the owners and also with other visitors primarily from other parts of Canada. We really enjoyed our stay!  Thank you to Pascal and Florence. Merci beaucoup!

Chez Marie-Claire offers the perfect location for a visitor, a very short walk to the Chateau Frontenac, lower town, shops, restaurants, the Citadel, Parliament, and much more!  Rooms are comfortable, and the shared lounge area is extremely comfortable! helpful staff.  Breakfasts were tasty, and had a variety of choices from a continental breakfast to a full hot meal.   Parking is off-street, a plus.   Also, though there were two festivals going on nearby, the music wasn't heard, despite being close by.

Great location, walking distance to the chateau. Very clean, friendly service, Ok breakfast. We stayed in the family suite and it was more than enough. Towels, shampoo, etc; provided. WiFi was alright. Free parking. Very cool!

After being up for 18 hours and arriving in Quebec (not the B & B's fault) my wife and I were greeted by a woman who could not speak English. We could not communicate with this same woman before breakfast the morning after.  Although I studied French in high school and freshman year in college, I have spoken it infrequently since then and found the Google translations app on my IPhone.   My comment in the quest book "It is necessary to have someone fluent in English for visitors from the United States."  
We had a large first floor room with a king size bed and a more than adequate bathroom. However the room's lighting was not great. I had to use the extension cord from my Continuous Passive Airway machine to connect into a power strip next to the triple dresser on the wall opposite the bed to have an outlet for the light on the side of the bed next to the windows.  Breakfast was included, but not outstanding with just two cereal choices, packaged yogurt that appeared to come from a grocery store and a couple of three or four varieties of store purcahsed crackers. There was a small selection of fruit. One dish was cooked (bacon and eggs ) but we had a tres difficile (very difficult) time communicating to our host how we wished our eggs cooked.  Saturday's breakfast experience was better with a gentleman who could speak English. The location is excellent with an easy walk to the Chateau Fontinac (photo above) and the upper town.
