A Schooner Inn

Colette is so friendly and welcomes you with open arms. Her breakfasts are spectacular and her passion for running her B & B shines through every detail. She treats her “youngens” (young adult travellers) as if they were kids of her own and connects with us older crowd as if we were long lost fiends. I highly recommend staying here to explore several areas of Eastern Nfld.

We can't rave enough about A Schooner Inn.  The location on Conception Bay harbor is beautiful and centrally located for exploring the Avalon Peninsula.  The historic 1884 building is beautifully restored and decorated. We spent time each day on the front deck just relaxing and enjoying the flowers and view.  Our hosts, Colette and Bob, were wonderfully welcoming and full of great tips for sightseeing and places to eat.  The breakfasts were fantastic.  Colette's presentation is beautiful; the meals included many traditional Newfoundland dishes with gourmet touches and homemade compotes and preserves.  Since my husband recently had knee surgery, we were given a first floor suite with the most comfortable mattress we've ever slept on.  We also strongly recommend Sullivan's Songhouse and (if you go in July) Squid Fest, for fun and authentic experiences.

Our whole experience was exceptional. This is a historic building with smallish rooms, but ours was comfortable and beautifully furnished. The mattress was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Breakfast was delicious. Colette is a friendly and welcoming hostess. Recommended!

What a great place, and what a superb host and person, Colette the owner is. Just supreme detail to the theme. Excellent motif. Very comfortable beds. Colette is an encyclopedia of Newfoundland lore. I learned much from just one evening there. Great views of the harbour. You will LOVE the slippers she provides. Her breakfast was to die for. She even made us some scones for our flight. Even the flight crew commented on how great they smelled. She gave a great recommendation for dinner (Tiny's in Conception Bay). Without a doubt a great representative, of the greatest people on earth, the Newfies. We will be back next year, and will make it our base for several days. 5+ stars.

The inn is immediately across the road from the cove. If you are lucky you may even see whales if the capelin are there. We did not on our night but we did that is the way it is sometimes. We did see plenty during our 21 days in NFLD! Collette's place is very well located for many sights and activities. You could easily use this as a home base for several days of sightseeing and exploring. Many of the B&Bs we stayed at served very similar breakfasts. Collette was the only one who served a soufflé for our last of 21 breakfasts in NFLD. Very nice Collette!

A Schooner Inn was a great B and B.  It is a very quaint old house.  At first we thought there could be a lot of traffic noise, but there wasn't any.  The breakfasts were wonderful and Colette was a lovely, friendly host.  We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed with Colette for 2 nights earlier this week. What a wonderful stay! We started with the crab legs and mussels welcome dinner with another couple. Such great conversations and Colette is a hoot! Great stories and so welcoming. The inn has so much charm. Some of the floors and doors lean one way or another! It's great. The inn makes a perfect home base for exploring Conception Bay. We spent a day exploring around to Harbour Grace, Cupids, Brigus, and Heart's Content, Heart's Delight and more. And then back to the inn for a cozy sleep. If you can, be sure to include a couple of nights here as part of your stay in the Holyrood/St John's area.
