The Baker Hotel

Great place. A lot of heritage and a beautifulBuilding. Walking distance to many restaurants and shopping.

Really good hotel. They called me in advance to let me know my room was ready early then the check-in was quick and easy. The building is quite old but well maintained and very clean. The pub on the main floor had standard pub fare and was medium busy. It was 10 dollar wing night which came with fries. Food was above average. Looks like a 60 inch television with all of the channels. Bathroom looks newly renovated and is spotless. Has bar fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. The only negative is the parking. There are meters next to the building that turn on 900am. There's a bigger public lot across the street about a 5 min walk. This would still be my first pick of hotels within the city of Cranbrook.

Very nice hotel with a lot of history. The room was very comfortable and the walk in shower is fantastic. What really makes this place stand out is the amazing service Jim provides. He called us earlier in the morning to say the room was ready for early check-in... I have never experienced that level of service before!!! When we arrived he arranged a taxi to take us to the airport early the next morning before I even had all the words out. Jim is a real gem...thank you!!!

Fantastic location and a very nicely renovated building! Loved reading about its history and can’t wait to stay again! Shout out to Jim at the front desk! What a lovely human who had some great recommendations!

Very nice old style hotel right downtown Cranbrook close to many good restaurants, shopping, groceries, entertainment. Will definitely stay there again

I had a quick overnight stay at the Mount Baker Hotel and can fully recommend staying there.  Comfortable room, great bed, quiet building, etc.
But the thing that sets this place apart is the service I received when I found out there weren't any early taxis to the airport.
I explained my dilemma to Jim at the front desk and he said "Go enjoy your dinner and we'll see if we can figure this out" (great local food recommendations by the way - all within walking distance).  An hour later I came back and Jim said we've talked to one of our employees and Hasi will pick you up at 5:00am to get you to the airport.
Hasi arrived as expected and delivered me to the airport (about 15 minutes).  The hotel accepted an e-transfer to compensate Hasi and I have a good news story to tell.  
Thanks Jim and Hasi for your genuine willingness to help out - I doubt the "chain" hotels would go out of their way to do the same.
Next step - time to write a review on Cranbrook's poor taxi service...

The manager Jim was very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant was very good both food and service. The location was easily walkable in the downtown area.

The hotel itself, the service, the location were excellent. Met our needs perfectly. My only issue was the fact that there was no elevator. This is not anything against the hotel - it’s a historic building and I should have known my mobility issues would trouble me.  But overall, love the place and highly recommend it. Would stay again even without an elevator :)

the staff was more then excellent, the place is an older hotel that has had a nice renovation.  location was excellent.  Rooms were spacious.  No elevator but that was fine for me.  The only downside I had was the heating ac unit runs very often.  I think it has to do with the thermostat location.  But that was overlooked by myself due to the super helpful and friendly staff.

A beautiful historic hotel. Front counter staff were friendly and kind. The place is great except for the fact that there's no elevator. It's no big deal if your young and/or fit, but if not there's about 20 stairs to climb so be warned. Pack lightly. Otherwise the location is very central with restaurants, pubs and shopping within easy walking distance.

Nearly Stranded!

The Art Deco room I booked was perfect for our overnight trip.  
The kitchenette was fully stocked with a hot plate,  microwave,  toaster etc and the bigger sized fridge/freezer would be very convenient for a longer stay.  
The room was very clean and the decor so cute.  I don't usually sleep well in a hotel but had a great sleep since the hotel was quiet and the beds comfortable. 
We were able to walk to dinner around the block and to the Western Financial Centre for an event.  
We didn't manage to find time to go to the Fenwick and Baker pub but definitely  will on our next stay at The Baker Hotel!

Fantastic hotel.  We will be back!

Great location near restaurants, grocery store, and fuel! It was an excellent first stop on our trip and I would stay there again.  We didn't spend much time in the room as we were only there for 1 night but it was very well set up and I was impressed by the use of space and the kitchenette. My only caution for others would be the narrow staircase.

Would not stay anywhere else while in cranbrook. Jim was the best host we have ever had. Upbeat informative and kind. That fact that they refurbished this 1939 hotel into absolutely beautiful rooms in style with an antique flair super clean and well appointed. Central and great restaurants close by. We are at the sushi restaurant beside the hotel and it was amazing

Baker hotel

What a beautifully restored historic hotel that is right in the centre of Cranbrook.  We were welcomed by Jim, the receptionist, who was friendly and was available to answer all our questions during our visit. Our rooms were clean and equipped with microwave, mini fridge, kettle and coffee maker. Beds were comfy and food at the restaurant was good. Would love to stay again if we are in Cranbrook.
