Plamondon Whitesands Resort

We spent a heat wave Canada Day weekend here and enjoyed our stay. There was lots of room for our trailer and had power water and sewer! We noticed there are several people who must rent for the summer because they had nice decks and gazebos. The A loop 1-16 even have access to the beach. We were near the playground and had a full stand of trees to protect us from the setting sun. Many people had boats and enjoyed the lake. There was a little roped off area in the water to help keep kids safe. The grumpy staff member mentioned last year was not there. The staff were friendly. There was a line up for the soft ice cream cones at the store. We will come again next year. BTW the museum in Plamondon is very well done. They have a 1920 Ford truck and a beautiful sleigh with velvet seats.

The cabin we stayed in is perfect.  It’s cute and very clean.  I’m very impressed with the cleanliness.   The ladies in the office/convenient store were amazing, they were super helpful and nice.  It’s pet friendly cabins and it’s affordable!! Love love it!  We will definitely be back!!!!!! 

Clean, quiet and beautiful campground. There are cabins to stay in and you have access to year round camping lots. We stayed just for a few days.  The campground had full service (electrical, sewer and water ) including free wifi for those that need it. There is a little store. 

We had booked 3 different campgrounds to go to in 2016. The first was Plamondon. We had never been before but have been to many many many campgrounds around Alberta. In fact currently on the hunt for a seasonal site. So the first week we stayed we had a site far to the back. Now the site was very short literally only long enough for our trailer. But the site was very very wide. We did have to park our truck sideways but we did not mind as that helped with privacy with the road. Now privacy between sites are actually better than most of the rv parks around Alberta. The only time you get privacy in sites like that are in a few basic provincial parks that have literally no services. This campground has pretty great wifi they have even mentioned that they are adding a 3rd wifi tower. The driving range should be open for the 2017 season which will be exciting. Prices are still reasonable for what you get. Ended up booking the rest of my summer there and canceled my trips to Jasper and Waterton national park cause we fell in love with this campground.  We have booked our entire 2017 season and got ourselves on the waiting list for a seasonal spot. This is great campground very family friendly. Oh and the brand new Co op grocery store 15 minutes away in plamondon has the most amazing cinnamon buns.

Stayed for a couple of nights and the power/water/sewer hook-ups right at our site were pretty handy. Our baby was excited to play on both the playgrounds and the new driving range is a nice touch. A bit pricey but a nice enough spot to use as a base to explore the Lac La Biche area.

Came in for camping before and during father's day weekend. Made use of a camp spot that were fully serviced as well as Cabins. The booking were very efficient and friendly and the camp spots adequite and all the services in working order. You will be expected to have all the appropriate hookup attachments, and iff you do not have them it can be purchased at the convenience shop at the entrance. The cabins are new, well equipped and ideally positioned right on the lake!! Great view and value. 
The only reason i did not gave a higher rating were about the overzealous and unprofessional security that take their job a little too serious. They patrol constantly and prey what are being done. I am all for keeping good order, but made us feel that we might be in an concentration camp!!  A little training of this employee will go a long way to establish security with being too imposing  
I will come back to Plamondon Sands and can highly recommend this to families that value extra security. 

Very clean well run establishment

Booked for 10 nights, called in an order of wood and kindling ($33) to be paid in office when its convenient for us, quite pricey but not the issue.  Very next day, bought icecream in store and asked to pay for tab for the wood, no issues, paid what was requested and went on.  End of the trip we went to checkout and were asked to pay the $33 for wood, when I asked why because we had paid it, she said well if you have nobody recorded it.  Was told I either show my receipt for payment, pay it now or they charge the credit card on file. I didn't get a receipt for that payment. So we were forced to pay twice for overpriced firewood due to a clerical error on their part. Kind of took the good feels out of that trip. Otherwise the camping was good. Keep all records of your transactions with these people, they are judge and jury.

Good facility, poor managment

We were up late by the fire at our last night when suddenly from the bushes emerged a wooodland hippopotamus. You could see that the hippo was in distress as it had some how got tangled up in a florescent security gaurd vest. The hippo was overley aggressive and after some incoherent grunting and hippo noises we realized that the hippo was attracted to the music playing on someone's phone. After silencing the music the woodland hippo calmed slightly, grunted a few more time and retreated back to the bushes where it rolled itself on to a golf cart, taught itself to drive and drove away. Beware of the wild life here, especially after 11pm.

We went to Plamondon White Sands the end of May 2020 for a family vacation. I’m a very positive person and can generally find good in almost anything but have to confess. This campground had gone significantly downhill the past couple of years and the staff were very unprofessional. In the evening at 11:10pm we were out by our fire with music from our iPhone playing. The security guard came to our site. Shone their flashlight in our eyes. Never spoke. I asked what time it was and said I’m sorry. They never spoke one word to us just kept the lights straight in our eyes until we turned down our phone to off and then they left. It was the most awkward and weirdest experience I’ve ever had. We camp ALOT! This was gross. Our campsite was dirty upon arrival Without picnic table. The ice cream was $5 for a small scoop, A tiny peanut butter jar was $8, the wood was $8 for a very small bundle of dirty wet wood (not birch), there was nothing safe for kids during Covid (a free for all without cleansing of the playground which I have reported to AHS and Parks Canada - as a healthcare professional I was disgusted), the beach was in terrible condition and the May flies.... that’s another story for Stephen King! I could honestly oversee all of those things on a normal day but because of the way the security guard treated us, I will let it be known. There’s so many other qualities that are not acceptable. People will never forget the way you make them feel! 
Go a little further down the road to any other campground. Friendlier staff and better facilities. Such a shame for the cost!
