My husband and I stayed here and loved it. Clean rooms, close to everything, friendly staff. It has more of an authentic Cambodia feel which we loved. The tubs are big and there are good places to eat close by. 

I stayed here for almost two months from early Feb 2015 and enjoyed every minute of my time there. I was working on a local newspaper and new no-one when I arrived, but the staff were so friendly and helpful, that I knew this was the right place to settle for my stay. The street is packed with nice restaurants and bars, but not too noisy. My first room was in the annex opposite the main hotel and had a lovely big balcony with a view of the Pagoda at the end of the street. It was cleaned everyday and had a huge fridge which was very handy. 

After about 10 days I moved to a bigger room with a balcony on the first floor of the main hotel. It was lovely, with a kitchen, dining area and big bathroom with a proper bath (we Brits love a bath). 

The staff were so helpful, letting me use their printer to print by boarding pass, organising my visa extension and generally having a can-do attitude. And the family that owns it has the sweetest little toddler who is great fun. 

Even though this is a family run hotel, I felt perfectly comfortable staying there as a single man.

The only downside was the internet, which was patchy at times and needs to be improved. Sometimes I had to go and sit in the hotel opposite to work which has a much better system. But that is my only little gripe. Everything else was perfect, incredibly good value (you even get free laundry done every day). And when I return to Phnom Penh this is where I will try and stay - but it's a very popular place, so fingers crossed. If you go, Say hi to Mr Boray, who is a star!

This is definitely the best choice for budget travellers. Stayed there for two nights, 20$/standard room with double bed (no breakfast included), spacy bathroom, plasma TV, aircon, fridge, good mattress, and especially free laundry for 5 pieces of clothes per person. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wish I had known about this place earlier.

I just stayed for 8 days at family owned and managed Amber House.  They looked after me terrifically. It’s a small place, where the son of the owners plays at a table in the lobby, and the Cambodian couple that own it are constantly on the premises.  When I went out at dawn into the neighborhood, the manager (with good English who couldn’t be more helpful) was still asleep on his cot in the lobby. The lady in the kitchen makes breakfast whenever you want it, and the laundry comes back beautifully done on the same day (included in the rate.)

The location is in the middle of everything, steps away from restaurants, bars where you can watch the world, coffee places with good lattes and pastries at 6:30 am, around the corner from a great gym, walking distance to everything in BKK. 

It’s not sleek or beautifully decorated and the reading lights could be better and the linens are not plush. But it offered everything I needed including good internet and impeccable cleanliness at a very reasonable price. Each day I felt like I was coming home to a genuine place, not an anonymous generic international hotel. I liked that very much.
