Centrally located boutique hotel on quieter side street and close to action in Kampot. Reception is attentive. On-site staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are good sized with nice amenties including safe, AC, bottled water and coffee. Bathroom is large with separate area for dressing sink in bedroom. My room had small window facing back and was darker (not a problem). Walk-up with luggage assistance offered. Set menu breakfast with good coffee in lobby/dining area. Doors lock at 11 pm with after hours entry by phone. Walkable to city center and riverside. Plenty of restaurants, bars and convenience stores nearby. Easy check-out. No pool or gym.

Lovely Hideaway

The manager who I fail to remember his name could not have been more attentive and friendly. He helped with everything from recommendations of restaurants and bars to helping organise tuk this and day trips. The breakfast was delicious!
We had adjoining rooms which were at the back so we had no view but they were clean and comfortable and cool. We only stayed two nights but I can’t fault the hotel.

Friendly clean value for money

From the outside the Columns is pretty basic (we arrived from Raffles Hotel in Phnom Penh to as a comparison - pretty basic).  However the Columns proved to be an excellent base in Kampot.  The rooms are pretty “tight on space” - you have to juggle your luggage and bend you head to stand alongside the bed.  However the whole hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the breakfasts are made-to-order - and served efficiently.  I think the hotel is family run and owned - this reflects into the service level.  The rooms are upstairs which are also a little narrow (no lift) - but reception were immediate in their assistance to take the luggage to the room (and back).  Easy to recommend and good value for money

Basic but very good - easy to recommend

First of all, there is the fourth point because of the warmth and loving hosts! We evaluate fairly and do not understand some evaluations at all, you have to tell the host what there is to improve and not good evaluations because they are so nice!-) In Europe, one point is already being deducted from who finds a hair in a bed in a luxury hotel and here everything is rated with 5 points, strange! We also have to give some constructive criticism or clips. First of all, the positivity, a beautiful hotel, renovated and very clean and above all central! We book a rooftop room, everything clean and what you need, but unfortunately very small and hot, hardly to endure until the replacement of the ballet shows its hours of charging, or unfortunately, a very old ballet and a very old ballet, but I do not want to recommend this, which is just a little love and a little love, and unfortunately, if this is not the case, I do not want to recommend it for a very nice romantic relationship with a very old ballet, which is very nice, and unfortunately, unfortunately, a very nice

Nice clean little hotel.

The building was very clean, and I really liked the architecture, furniture, and decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They greeted me by name, which I appreciated. I will definitely stay there again when I go to Kampot.

Another lovely visit to The Columns (my fourth).  This is such and understatedly beautiful place to stay in town.  Thavy is so kind and couldn't be more welcoming and helpful; she organised tours and transfers for us.  Breakfast choices are delicious.

The lady who’s family owns it was very helpful and nice. 

Lovely breakfast was included. 5-6 choices including fresh fruit or cooked breakfast with coffee and juice. 

Lovely renovated colonial building.

Great place to stay.

Old restored house in the centre of the historic district of the small town of Kampot. The manager is very welcoming and pleasant. Breakfast is completely homemade and prepared in a minute. Everything is excellent! The rooms and common areas are full of charm and decorated with contemporary artworks.

Excellent location in the heart of the historic district

We stayed at the Columns for 5 nights while in Kampot and was made to feel extremely welcome by the lovely young couple who run it. Nothing was too much trouble and they helped to arrange tours and recommended places to see or eat at. It is an old colonial building situated no more than a 30 second walk from the main street, bars and restaurants. The breakfast was ordered from the menu and was very good and served with homemade bread and small cakes. As stated, this is a colonial building so the rooms will not be as large as some of the newer or modern hotels but it was more than adequate along with the shower. We would recommend this hotel and we loved our stay here.

A warm and friendly hotel and stay

Lovely boutique style hotel set in quiet street. The owners are so friendly & accommodating. Breakfast is yummy, plentiful & so fresh. Only down side is the bathroom facilities are literally in the bedroom making privacy an issue & the key system means the air conditioning is turned off when ever you the leave the room making it v hot on returning.
