Menada Elit III Apartments

Just home from a one week stay at elit 3 apartments. Me, my husband and 16 yr old son. It was booked as a last minute decision and didn't disappoint. A lot of the apartments are privately owned which is probably why ours was lovely inside. We had a 1 bdrm apt, block 7, room 2, which had a proper double bed in the bedroom, sofa bed(double) in lounge which housed another mattress underneath it, and a single chair bed. There were two rings, a kettle, 1 pot, a frying pan, plates, glasses, cups and cutlery and utensils... No toaster. It was fine for a sandwich or pot noodle but it's so cheap to eat out, there's really no need. And the hotels "yes cafe" cooked great food. There wasn't a maid service to speak of unless you wanted to pay extra, but it was nothing to rinse out a few mugs and wash out your towels....Although the pool and surrounding areas always seemed to be being swept up and mopped. The staff were great!! Security on front gate prevented stragglers coming in. From reception to the bar men and waitresses.... Always a great atmosphere and a nice smile. Nothing was too much bother with reception organising our transfer at 3am! There is no animation/entertainment at this hotel but a huge pool which was great for a game of water polo/ volleyball or general clowning around!! There is also a childrens pool with small chutes going into it surrounded with a metal fence to protect them from said ball games perhaps?! There is a lifeguard provided daily .. Apparently Bulgarian law... Not a great many Brits there, but was given a great deal of advice from a property owner like... Jump on the number 1 bus from across the road from favorit hotel (1 lev/40p each) and this will take you along to the famous "flower street"! This was really nice to walk up early evening but later on the "18-30" groups started appearing from every orifice... But each to their own, we just wandered down side streets and came to "Piccadilly, corner bar, garden bar" etc... With bingo, karaoke, pub quiz and proper entertainment like the hypnotist! Brilliant!! We also ate at the favorit hotel just up from elit 3 on Main Street... Great food... Proper bacon and sausages!! Nice change from bulgarian sausages. And also straight along from elit 3.. Jacksies Irish bar which was very tasty and toilets were spotless!! If you wish to go along to nessebar, a beautiful small fishing village, hop on the number 1 bus on same side as favorit hotel. Once you get the bus along it's easy to get around, but a good walk if you don't bus it.... There's also 2 water parks with free bus available.. Also outside favorit hotel... We went go karting.. Which was quite good.. We had to wear helmets which told me at least they try to promote health and safety! Ha One evening we stopped at "papa joes" in the elit 2 hotel across the road and asked for a large pizza...16inches at 14lev...£5 odds... We just took that back to the room to eat...Unbelievable!! All in all I think bulgaria is great value for money. We had a great time. This hotel is a perfect base for any holiday... And for anyone who wants to speak to English people all day and eat nothing but English food... You should probably stay in the UK... We will definitely be returning next year!!
