Alexander Services Ski Apartments

We stayed in the main building, and everything was great - a stylish room with comfortable beds, powerful shower, very clean and in good condition. Our balcony (room 409) was on facing south, up to the mountains (view slightly spoiled by the enormous St George's palace hotel, but hey ho), it was also wider than most because it was on the end, where the roof slopes. It was nice that each balcony had a clothes drier, so we could hang out our swimming costumes etc, as well as a table and two chairs. The breakfast food was great - quite a lot of variety and lots of it, all from a help-yourself-buffet. We had paid for half board, and when the hotel was quiet we chose 4 courses from a written menu (2 or 3 options for each course), and when it was busy they put on a buffet. Again, lots of choice, including excellent salads every day. And staff were friendly and able to speak English (though it was mainly Bulgarians staying when we were there). There are good walks you can do from the hotel, into the forest area just to the southwest, or round into woods and meadows and enter the town from the east. So many wild flowers and butterflies (in June!) Some people might find it a bit far from town, however - if you want nightlife then you'll want to be closer to the heart of things in the town. The hotel has a nice informal lawn area at the back where children can play, along with it's adventure playground thingy. And runs a 5 day children's club ("scouts") during summer.
