Stayed here for 3 nights in private room, location is great for historic centre, staff are great- really helpful, helped us book tours and gave us loads of advise on what to do around the area. Breakfast is good and the cake is even better! Would stay again

we spent just one night here in the centre of paraty, the location is great, just a 10/15 minute walk to the bus station and to the port where the boat tours etc leave from, and our room was basic but clean and tidy! excellent value for money. we were actually the only guests staying there that night but the staff were so kind to us, preparing a huge and varied breakfast just for the two of us, and let us keep the room until later than the check in time! the owner and Andressa then wrote to us straight away to arrange to post a watch back out to us which we had accidently left there! so kind, thank you!  the only thing i would say is that the walls are very thin and you can hear everything that's going on, so if you suffer from difficulty sleeping than it might be quite noisy for you at night!

Fantastic value for money. 

The service on offer at this hostel was amazing. I eat a gluten free diet and the staff prepared me a special gluten free breakfast every morning. During the stay they also made me a gluten free cake. 

The hostel is in a fantastic location close to the shops and restaurants of Paraty. 

I highly recommend one of Zac's caipirinhas, he made the best caipirinhas I have ever tried.

Fantastic Hostel

Great location, great staff

The location is ok and the owners are very kind and helpfull but the place needs a good cleaning desperately... We had old shavings hair on the bath counters as well as a load of full grown cockroaches close to the bed. The breakfast table was so sticky i rather would not eat from eat... It's hard, because the couple leading it is really nice... Too pricy for this musty room.

Too dirty for the price

I went to Paraty this July with another three friends and we decided to stay at this hostel even though these poor reviews were already available. This choice was driven especially considering budget limitations, which, eventually, was a bad parameter: we rented a 4 people exclusive bedroom to find out, in our first ten minutes there, that it had already been rented to other people. The owner had contacted us previously saying that in fact we had been charged the wrong sum because of her mistake (lower than the usual fare), but that everything was all right and that the room was at our disposal. So, at the end of the day, we stayed at a 8 people bedroom, with moisture, termites and without any privacy or lockers. In fact, I say "room" but the space was a windowless improvisation.

There were two bathrooms, not very nice and poorly clean; only one was nice enough to shower. The kitchen was terrible and we did not eat anything apart from breakfast. Some attempt to keep things clean were seen as the beds were done and towels put on the sun to dry.

The main quality is really location. But in fact this was a poor choice when it came to thrift, since the main deal (4 people bedroom for a cheap price) was not kept. If the real fare had been charged, we would have chosen another place to stay.
