VOA Pousada Mezanino

E best part was that the owner is an extra sweet person! Besides all the good service (she prepared breakfast with all the things we like the most, as we were the only ones in the inn! She asked us first!), she prepared a kind of “surprise party” for my birthday!!

The guesthouse staff are very helpful and friendly and this was a terrific introduction to Brazil. They helped with advice about seeing the sights of Salvador and the ordering of taxis. The city requires some care with planning visits to Pelhourinho owing to areas where there is urban violence and we appreciated all the advice we received.The breakfast room is delightful, and the food delicious. Our room was spacious and we had a giagantic bathroom. The location is superb - very short walk to the promenade area and beach in Barra. This is an excellent choice for your visit to Salvador. It is quiet at night.

We loved our stay in this pousada. My mother and I stayed for two nights and were warmly welcomed and given a map and information about sight seeing on our arrival. Our room was small but cosy with two single beds with duvets and extra blankets (the weather was quite cold at night while we were in Ouro Preto). Lots of electrical outlets for charging phones and cameras etc, but my mother would have liked a bedside lamp. The bathroom was little but functional and everything was very clean and light. The breakfast room upstairs was all windows with fantastic views and breakfast itself was tasty. The pousada is well located (just down the street from the square) and close to restaurants, banks and shops. Twenty real taxi ride from/to the bus station.

Ouro Preto is an amazing and very friendly town, steeped in history that has links to the UK.  It is easy to walk around (steep hills), with churches, museums, galleries, tourist mines, and good restaurants.  It helps if you speak some Portuguese. This hotel is located ideally for exploring the town on foot.  The hotel is simple, very friendly, quiet, clean and comfortable.  Breakfast is good, with amazing views of the rooftops and hills beyond - good for birdwatchers. Excellent transfer service from Belo Horizonte Confins airport with Esse Trem Turismo (book via www.ouropretomg.com).

The guesthouse is a quaint attractive old building with a special feature: a breakfast room with windows on all sides, light pouring in, great views of the town. The place is very homely and comforting. Highly recommended for this. The facilities are a little old fashioned, the bedroom small but the bed was superb, extremely comfortable. Breakfast somewhat thin on the bread side, not really enough to keep my energy up for long: this is the only area where an improvement could be made. Owners friendly.

We had a great stay at this Pousada in January 2014. The rooms are comfortable and the location is really great - a quick walk to any of the sights and good restaurants. The breakfast room is definitely the hightlight of the place with beautiful views of the town. The people at the pousada were also very nice and helped us find a free concert going on at the Opera house, which turned out to be the highlight of our stay!

A small very friendly Pousada in a great location. Close to the action with lots of little bars and restaurants just around the corner. We immediately felt at home and were offered great coffee and orange cake on arrival. The room was very quiet small but comfortable.
We had a great breakfast.

Lovely views from the Breakfast Bar!

Comfortable, clean and located right in town, midway between the high town and the low town. Wifi worked well. Did not have air-con, though most budget places we looked at did not. However, they provide a table-top fan that worked well and was better than many overhead fans we've had.

Main con was the room and bathroom were on the small side. We took the option without the breakfast. The value for money was ok.
