Camp Savuti

We stayed in Camp Savuti in the tented lodge area for 3 nights at the end of our Botswana holiday.  It was a wonderful place to end our trip, especially after 6 nights bush camping - it gave us a bit of luxury but with the feel of the wild all around us.  Everyone at the camp were so helpful including Mercy, Tyrone and Vanessa - apologies for not knowing the names of all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome.  The food was endless and top quality.  Special thanks are due to Lecha our wonderful guide and driver. He was a superb guide - very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and went out of his way to give us a memorable experience of game viewing. There were lions everywhere and we got to know the famous Scottie and his roar.  One of the highlights was visiting a wild dog den at sundown and watching the babies emerge from the den and frolic as the sun went down. Truly beautiful.  

Thank you Camp Savuti for providing a fantastic experience to end our time in Botswana.  I recommend anyone who loves safari holidays to come to Botswana and Camp Savuti for the wildlife and warm welcome you will receive.

After a long and pumping drive from Kasane, we received a warm welcome from Ob.He introduced the camp and activities very detailed. Customer service is good.
The camp is decorated beautifully. The tent is spacious and comfortable. We are regret that we only have one night.
Our guide is Bonnie. He is a funny guy. We chat a lot. He drives nicely and give us wonderful game drive. My husband and I have already been to Kenya, Tanzania,South Africa,Namibia to do safari, but we have to admit that Botswana offered us a lot more. Especially savuti. This is a dry land and also a magical land.We enjoyed every game drive. We saw lions in every game drive. They are in large numbers. We saw leopard hunting impala which is the highlight of this trip. We saw giraffes in interesting positions.we saw so much more.

This lodge was great. We had read some reviews about poor customer service but did not find this to be the case at all. There was a new manager as of a month or two before our stay, which might be the reason for the change. All of the staff went above and beyond to tend to our every need. The new manager, Mercy, was so attentive and made sure everything was perfect. The entire staff was great, but we got to spend the most time with Phets, who was a true joy to be around. His good attitude was infectious. The property had also been recently renovated, including adding a pool. We would definitely recommend this lodge!

We had a wonderful stay at Camp Savuti Lodge. Staff and management (Mercy, Phatz, Sophie, Mama and all others) could not have been more helpful and welcoming.
Gabriel our guide was very knowledgeable and did possible and impossible so we could see a variety of animals.
Breakfast and Tea were not memorable but then again we were not there for the culinary experience.
I loved the decoration of the comun/dining room. 

When we arrived at the airstrip in Savuti, we were greeted by Bonnie.  He was our guide for the duration of our stay at Camp Savuti.  We were greeted by the staff with traditional welcoming songs.  The camp was beautiful.  It is not fenced in so, wildlife is free to roam the property.  The staff escorted us when dark to keep us safe.  The staff, including Biggie, Phatz, Mercy, Bonnie, Sophie, and Martha were welcoming.  The tents are comfortable with full bathroom including tub and great outdoor shower.  The coming area is beautiful, comfortable with various seating areas.  There is a pool and seating area.  The best part about the camp is the staff.  Biggie, the manager, was always present to be sure our stay was smooth.  Phatz was accommodating when it came to drinks and food and overall positive energy.  Ms. Martha, the chef, Sophie, Mercy, and the staff made and presented delicious meals and snacks.  Bonnie, our game drive guide, was experienced, knowledgeable, calm, and enthusiastic about searching for wildlife.  He was really interested in showing us all of the things that Savuti has to offer in the wild.  We saw lots of lions, giraffe, elephants, Cape buffalo, birds, etc.  Bonnie was able to answer all of our questions and provide so much information.  He also searched for more elusive wildlife to makes our experience more exciting.
Everyone was so kind to us and our 2 teenage daughters.  They provided extra amenities such as hot water bottles in our beds at night as well as on game drives as well as cozy blankets. It was chilly in the early mornings but warmed up nicely as the morning progressed.  There is generator power, which was fine.  Our tents were comfortable even with the hotter part of the days.  
This camp and its staff made our time here exciting, comfortable, and safe.  We all felt so welcome and attended to by them.  There is t anything I would change about this camp.  It was a highlight of our vacation.  It exceeded our expectations because of them.

This was an experience of a lifetime!!  We were greeted by Biggie, aka Black Panther, the manager.  He’s friendly, knowledgeable, and always there!  The tents were very nice; although, quite hot in the middle of the day.  You will love falling asleep at night to the sound of elephants and lions! The laundry service was fantastic! The food was good and there was plenty of it! Mother, the chef, was amazing and went out of her way to make us a cake for our anniversary!!  It was so special!  Phat, the food coordinator, is the most helpful and beautiful soul.  He greets you with a smile each time he sees you! Our guide, Bonnie, was so knowledgeable, kind and patient with our endless questions about Botswana’s wildlife and environment. I would recommend this camp without hesitation!  It is a gem in this beautiful country!

From the arrival by 4WD after a bumpy small plane flight you see the accommodation, and then - The Animals.

Experienced guides, wonderful hosts and plenty of wildlife, right there beside you, around you to sundowners on the savannah there is nothing negative at all to say.

You are you, not a nameless number and the effort to make us comfortable was first class

We stayed at the SKL Campsite, it had everything you needed from a nice little Braai stand, to a Braai pit, a rubbish bin, clean shared ablutions, hot water and also water at each campsite which the staff are hesitant to tell to you can drink but we drank it no problem as it’s from a borehole. 

The hyenas visited us at night time looking for scraps and there were no monkeys or baboons on this occasion which was great! 

The cost of the campsite is expensive at $50pp however to stay in such as beautiful pristine wilderness area it is is definitely worth every penny. Around the area was epic with lions roaring each night and a beautiful leopard just off the loops! 

Would recommend  the campsite and will be returning again!

savuti is definitely worth the trip, we drove there in the rainy season, ( 10 hrs from Kasane) and stayed a few days, great place if you enjoy camping with elephants and lions roaming around the campsite, not too many people go there , great place to stay but very expensive ( $ 100 USD) per night for a campsite. need  4x4 to get there and do game drives around.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST IN SOUTHERN AFRICA

The tents/rooms were very nice with everything you needed.  You were not allowed to walk to your tents in the dark due to animals.  The large lounge/dining area has a bar, coffee/tea/water, and seating areas with books and tables.  Laundry service was available.  There is no water/stream by the camp nor has there been any for years, so it is dry.

Our safari guide was wonderful and we saw many animals, although most vehicles seemed very willing to go off trail even as they told you they weren't supposed to (always while looking for animals we knew were in the area due to radio contact between the guides).  We had to ask to stop to see the rock paintings (we saw the sign) as well as to see a baobab tree up close, but our guide was very willing to do so!

The staff at the camp worked very hard to provide a good experience for us - but you could tell the place was run with an iron fist.  The camp manager would use hand signals to tell the staff she wanted more tea or a piece of fruit - and the staff JUMPED to follow those commands.  I never felt super comfortable as I didn't like how controlled the place felt.  However, overall the wildlife viewing in the park was wonderful, and the "camp" facilities provided everything you needed!
