Pansion Stipanovic

I booked this hotel for our four day visit to Medjugorje in May. Knowing that most of the accommodations in the town were sparse, I did not have a high level of expectation. The place is hard to fine, as it is not on a main street. We got lost and called from a gas station and the owner came within 5 minutes to show us to the pansion. The rooms are very basic, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and the portions were huge. During our stay, the Stipanovic family treated us like family not guest. Each afternoon when we returned from our mass and sightseeing there would be soda, snacks and coffee waiting for us. When Stipe (the father) learned we were going for our hikes to Apparition Hill and Cross Mt., he would have frozen juice drinks in a plastic bag for us to carry on our hike. I have never encountered such warm friendly people in all my travels. They will also serve you lunch and dinner if requested. We had dinner which included wine and beer for 10 Euros. That would easily cost twice that at a restaurant. See my pictures of the dinner. You would need a car if you stayed here, I don't know about the public transit in Medjugorje, but if you don't have a car, there are Taxi service. We did not see any visionaries during our visit, but learned that Stipe's wife Stanka is a first cousin to Mirjana. Mirjana was one of the two girls who first witness the apparition back in 1981. I would definitely stay here again.
