Les Mezzanines

Quirky little place in Falmagne, just outside Dinant. Location is OK, it’s in a quiet little village outside of Dinant. There are 3 guest rooms and 4 parking spaces outside. Check-in was fine, the owner waited up for me even though my flight was delayed. I have to admit I didn’t like the room layout that much. There is a “ground floor” which has a space of about 3mx3m – two couches and a coffee table. There’s a medium sized LCD screen with some local channels, and an HDMI input is just about reachable, Also a separate toilet and a shower. Up a steep flight of stairs is the mezannine - with a large double bed, a small wardrobe, two bedside tables and a chair. There’s a skylight and unusually, a/c. The bottom floor had a central heating radiator which kept the place warm enough. Wifi was fine – stable and reasonably fast. Lighting was OK, bottom floor lighting is unpleasant but the bedroom has reading lamps which is good. There really should be more power outlets, and some more storage space is needed – perhaps a chest of drawers upstairs. The place looks clean and new, and is very well maintained. Someone came in every day to make the bed and to bring fresh towels. There is no desk in the room which is a minus, but there is a sort of lounge (the breakfast room) which is always accessible, with a dining table and chairs, good lighting, and a selection of hot drinks and fruit on a sideboard – top marks for this. Breakfast was fine – basically an upgraded continental breakfast. The owner was very helpful and very service-oriented, so again top marks here.
