Mount Pleasant Fishing Lodge

This was our first time staying at Mt. Pleasant, but I had a good feeling that we were going to have a great trip thanks to lots of pre-arrival communication from Lauretta and Stacy making sure our arrival went smoothly. While the lodge is somewhat remote, it was spotless and comfortable. Lots of oceanside chairs under the pine trees with the only noise being the whistling wind through the pines and the occasional splash. I cant remember being so relaxed. We wanted to DIY which is one of the reasons we chose Mount Plesant as they miles and miles of wadable hard bottom flats and we spent 6 hours the first day wading north and west exporing the miles of pristine flats and creeks. Saw lots of bonefish, snapper, small sharks, rays, turtles, wading birds and even a curious green moray hunting for crabs in 3 inches of water. Day two we decided to hire a guide and fished with Cap't. Quinten and released 10 bonefish. While I enjoy the DIY fishing, there is no substitute for the vision the guides have in spotting bonefish. We also learned a lot about the history of the fishery and the island. The food was wonderful (crached conch, conch salad, conch fritters and lobster as welll as american style breakfast and great packed lunches in coolers each day), and the staff got you whatever you needed immediately. There are also 3 blue holes located on the property which sadly I did not get to this time, but will definately check out when I return.
