We stayed as a group of four keen skiers, Hotel Koenig was perfect for our needs. The hotel is a short walk from the Schattberg lift in the morning, and its just about possible to ski in to the boot room (although the snow was pretty thin and slushy down in the village). The hotel is run by a Greek family, who are all really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and the dinners combined Greek and Austrian specialties. Four courses every night too, so you won't go hungry. Beds were comfy, and although the hotel is on the main road into town, this is not that busy so you'll not be kept awake by car noise. The centre of Saalbach is just a short walk away.
