Pension Schnaitl

We stayed here between Xmas & New Year last year on a bed & breakfast basis. Having stayed in a self catering apartment the previous year, also in Maria Alm. You have the use of the kitchen and an honesty bar is available. Christian was very hospitable and spoke good English and made sure we had everything we wanted during our stay, This is very much an Austrian & German resort so dont assume everyone will speak English. The whole village is a bit of an undiscovered gem as the pistes were not crowded and the lift queues small considering it was peak season. Back to Haus Schnaitl! It is located right opposite the main Aberg gondola station. A ski hire shop is also directly opposite with one of the more lively apres ski bars. The European sing along music takes a bit of getting used to but everyone seemed to enjoy! You can easily walk into the village centre although there a couple of hotel restaurants opposite and a few other restaurants en route. If you can, check out Haus Saltzberg (Oliver's Bar) - great restaurant, bar food and hosts. The bedroom was cosy. Not the biggest, but with enough space to dry out damp ski gear. Breakfast was continental, all fresh and tasty. All in all Haus Schnaitl is a great base for a skiing holiday and the mountain walking the resort offers in the summer.
