Alpenstern Lermoos

Our stay in Lermoos was especially great because of the night we chose to stay, the summer solstice! Lermoos has a special tradition on the evening of the summer solstice when they set their "Mountains on Fire" (http://www.zugspitzarena.com/en/summer/events-culture/top-events/mountains-on-fire/). The woman who runs the hotel doesn't speak any English but between hand signals and her calling her son who eventually described the tradition to me we were told to be outside at 10 PM to look at the surrounding mountains. I highly recommend a visit to this area on the summer solstice! The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable. Check-in was a little difficult because we arrived later in the evening and had to call someone to drive over and check us in. Luckily we live in Europe and have cell phones but this could have posed to be quite a problem for other tourists. Again, communication with the woman who runs the hotel was difficult but we managed! We stayed in their 2-bedroom apartment with my in-laws which was very nice and we definitely hope to return with friends to stay during ski season! The apartment is very large with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and large living room, and a kitchen/dining area. The apartment was very clean and nicely furnished with beautiful views of the mountains from the balcony. We didn't eat breakfast as it was not included in the price of the room but it looked like average German/Austrian fare.
