Pension Alpenrose

Obertraun is an excellent alternative to Hallstatt if you’re looking for somewhere away from the ‘maddening’ crowds of tourists who descend daily from a long line of busses. Haus Alpenrose is a quiet quaint and spotlessly clean pension tucked away in the backstreets. I was warmly welcomed by the hostess on arrival and felt at home straight away. The shared bathroom had small touches like hair dryers and extra towels...very handy for hair washing. After a sound nights sleep and upon awakening, I pulled back the curtains to meet another resident ...a cow out for an early morning constitutional gave me ‘the look’. A basic breakfast is available at an extra cost or you can opt for coffee and croissant at the downstairs bakery. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would recommend Haus Alpenrose as a great budget place to put ones head down.
