This would be the best family resort we’ve ever been too. All facilities were immaculate, the units were very comfortable, refurbished, super clean, a well equipped kitchen, beautiful grounds and so much for families and couples to do. It’s was perfect for our getaway … congratulations to the management & staff and thank you for the memories 👏👏👏

A great getaway for Us 3

Friends of mine have a Timeshare here, so my family thought we’d come up and stay last weekend, and we enjoyed our time here, I don’t understand all the negative reviews. The lady at check in was pleasant and our room, which had air conditioning and a dishwasher, was in a brilliant spot. I think it’s a child’s paradise, various play areas, a great kid's pool, paddle boats, bikes, small boats on the nearby lake, putt putt and so much more! We will be back and might even look in to the timeshare.

Excellent family place... great management and friendly staff. 
Lots to do onsite as well as heaps in the area. Always have great kids activities.

Great family resort

At first impression I was shocked - thought we had arrived at an army camp! Looks are deceiving! Although the rooms are not luxurious they are clean and adequate - except I missed a dishwasher!! The grounds made up for that! Absolutely impeccable - wonderful for kids young and old! Had so much fun with mini golf I almost felt young again! A great week!

Lovely

It's like stepping back in time. Units are fairly average, clean, well appointed but not state of the art. Our family love staying here & have done for many many years. You can be as active or inactive as you like. Everything is included in the accommodation, I think except for bike helmet hire. Tennis Courts, Jumping Pillow, Bingo during the week, movie nights, BBQs, kayaks etc. Additional charges for boat hire (but VERY reasonable prices). Great location, easy driving distance to amazing beaches and coastal walks.

Love the vibe

The Tuncurry Lakes Resort is a fantastic venue for families with young children as well as being a peaceful break for us oldies. The main resort has the units in blocks of 12, arranged around three sides of a square. Inside the square there is a swimming pool, many kiddy rides, barbeques and play areas. It is easy to sit on the verandah and watch the children playing in the centre.For older children and adults there are motor boats for hire as well as tennis, golf putting and driving, walking tracks and bike rides. Just five minutes drive to Tuncurry -also a pleasant walk most days.

Possibly the best resort for families with young children (age 1-10)

Once we got over the shock of having to cart all our grey water for our 22 ft van (including shower) 150 meters to a dump point or the laundry which we were unaware of when we booked, we realized what a lovely small park it was with grassy easy access sites and if you had children (we don't) the park would be perfect to keep them entertained. Amenities block were immaculate and seemed brand new. Glad we didn't go into the townships of Tuncurry or Forster for van accommodation as traffic, even in May when we went was heavy. I'd hate to visit here during holiday season. We stayed 3 nights and got used to carting grey water and showered in the lovely new clean showers. The issue with the grey water is why I gave it a three star rating. This needs to be made known BEFORE check in.

The staff were friendly and the resort has a lot of activities for children. but no pool table for adults, The kitchen is small and mostly well equipped. However there is no oven and the fry pans are NOT non stick. The main bedroom has a Queen size bed with only room for 1 suitcase in the wardrobe.  The small 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds and a small wardrobe, with no room for suitcases. The Bathroom and Toilet were OK. In Unit 48 the internet signal was low and downloads very slow. The Toilet and Bathroom were OK. However the TV was not capable of showing HD Channels. It was also NOT a Smart TV so we could not access Stan or Netflix, even with our own subscription. In view of above they had the audacity to charge $3 to hire a DVD. (Should be $5 or $10 deposit to borrow a DVD, refundable on return.)

Some good points and some bad ones.

Basic style time share accomodation with lots of activities for younger children. My husbands parents and relatives all have a time share here so we enjoyed the benefits of that with them.

Each unit has 2 rooms, fans only and no oven. Comfortable beds though which was important! The Wifi is super slow and phone reception in the area is terrible. Be prepared to take a stock count if every item in your unit as they require you to do this and sign for it on departure. We found this rather old fashioned and felt the management and cleaning staff should do a sufficient check before you depart. 

Our family enjoyed our week stay but if you hire something make sure you insist on a receipt. We hired a cot and paid $7 cash on arrival for it, then were accused of not paying it on departure because they had no banking records of it. With no receipt we had no proof and were forced to pay it again. It left a bad taste in our mouth after a pleasant week. This didn’t seem to matter to the owner. We pride ourselves on being an honest family and are happy to pay for the services someone provides but being treated as if we imagined it or were lying made me question if we’ll be back. It’s simply humiliating. Better processes could have avoided it. 

That aside, our 3 year old loved the resort and all other staff were most welcoming and accomodating. 

Overall this place has a nice feel. It has a decent sized pool (Adult and kids splash zone + 2 small side spa), a range of play equipment, a jumping pillow, bbq’s, mini golf and canoes all for free. You can hire small motorised boats and bikes for a fee. Get a receipt! ;) 

It’s mostly well maintained grounds but does give off the feeling that it’s prime days are done. A few things could use updating But we could see they are attempting to do so. My husband has been coming since he was a kid and some things still remain in but the times and expectations have changed.

There is little to offer teenagers but there is a table tennis games area and a common room. 

We can’t give it 5 stars because if our little hiccups but I’m sure other people (like our family) had no problems during their stays. If you have a family I’d still recommend it. It’s neat and tidy and quiet and family orientated. They offer limited accomodation outside the time share component. You just have e to pick your timing. Also no more than 15mins drive to the beach. 5-10 to shops and cinemas.

Basic, a few office issues but pleasant for young families

This in a wonderful resort for young families. They say sleeps six, but the fold out lounge is terribly uncomfortable, so forget using that for anyone. Unfortunately the managers are a horrid couple, they really spoilt our visit.
