Anchorage Guest House and Self-contained Accommodation

This place was very spacious, well-maintained, comfortable and felt like it really knew what it was doing. Comfy lounge beside the breakfast area, with library, magazines and chocolates. Large landing with long verandah outside with tables and chairs, where we had our sundowners. Beach towels were supplied. Our room (number 4) had the toilet and bathroom in separate rooms off the bedroom. The bathroom was decorated Victorian-style in cream and burgundy with mahogany woodwork, patterned border tiles, roll-top bath (what a treat!) and cream and burgundy floor tiles. Nice to see a recycling bin on the landing. Fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and glasses in the room, cutlery available on the landing. Continental breakfast - consisting of orange juice, several cereals, yogurt, bananas, 2 (thick) slices of white or multigrain toast with preserves, plus tea or coffee (no decaff) - was served between 8 and 9am at small tables in the sunny spacious dining area. The property was a few minutes’ walk away from the beach and a selection of various kinds of restaurants. My partner left his iPad on the verandah and the host was kind enough to arrange to post it on to our future destination. A couple of small niggles: the aircon was easy to use and effective, but quite noisy even on the lowest fan setting. The TV in the room adjoining our bed head was on quite loudly well after 11pm, despite us banging on the wall several times. Not the owners’ fault, but perhaps put up some signs asking guests for quiet between the hours of 11pm and 7am?
