The Middle Pub

My friend organized a group birthday lunch here for our Quilter’s. Very good menu and great choices. Although we all ordered something different they all came out together and everyone enjoyed their meal. No problems. Salad served with the meal was fresh and very appertising. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

We had walked past The Middle Pub a couple of days ago and reckoned that we would choose the Byron Bay Pork Sausages , mashed potatoes, peas and caramelised if we ever dropped in for lunch.  This we did today, and we were not disappointed! We started with a couple of schooners of Victoria Bitter, then enjoyed a lovely Shiraz with our lunch. This building is full of surprises in terms of furniture and decor. Staff were friendly and chatty.  Worth a visit!

Delicious food and a lovely place to meet. Plenty of room.

A classic Aussie watering hole! 

Staff was friendly and easy to chat with. Room was large but very noisy. Rooms have balcony doors which are directly next to the tables for people from pub to drink and smoke. This unfortunately make the rooms very noisy (until the pub closes) and smoke from cigarets goes right to the rooms where is no air-condition (only fan). It felt like sleeping right in the middle of pub. I have never seen so dirty floor leading to the first floor where are the rooms. It is really shame as this place has such lovely old vibe and decorations in the ground floor. With little bit of work, decent clean this place could be great.

Visited the middle pub for a meal on entry checkin was provided. Not sure if it was policed   Mask wearing although mandatory was a but hit n miss particularly with kitchen staff   Saw a sign to sanitize before handling cutlery. Didnt see one person do it nor was it reminded.  Food came quickly and was ok.  How wrong can you go with fish chips n salad   For $15 they have it in the bag pumping out meals.

One more time to be sure

We stayed in a large room with bathroom, which was nice for a pub room.   It was quite large and was clean.   People smoke on balcony outside and there were a lot of butts around in ashtrays.    Food at restaurant was very typical of pub food but I found my lamb shank very fatty and only managed to eat half.   Servings were pretty big too.    Pleasant stay and comfortable but pretty average.   Town has some nice restaurants around and it is nice to walk around in the small town.  Worth a visit.

Nice Pub

Tried to get accommodation in Mullumbimby for an overnight stop. Two choices, a motel and the pub, both apparently owned by the same folk. Can only book on line… so I did but only after i went into the pub and spoke to the barman. So $120 paid and it went bad from there. No parking available out the back… try later he said. Ok.. upstairs we go, through the rabbit warren to find a hot stuffy room. No aircon, no bathroom. So backdown stairs we go.. he basically called us liars and took the key and raced upstairs. Oh, he says sorry I haven’t been up here for a while. 
Downstairs we go again, for him to say I’ll have to give you a room at the other place. Again no parking, the complex is grubby, bathroom old and moody. Suggestion, don’t stay in Mullumbimby.

Don’t waste your time or money

Used to be a great pub where you could
Get a decent meal at a great price.
My daughters meal was missing when we went to pick up our meals, which I knew I had ordered and paid for.
When asking about it the man was super rude and was like if it’s not on the docket you didn’t pay for it. He then chucked the docket at me  to show me but sure enough her meal is on the docket.
He then goes and grabs the meal and plonks it in front of me. 
All meals except 1 out of 6 were cold, none of us really enjoyed it.
We would have taken them back but after waiting over an hour and a half we just wanted to get out of there. Highlight was the garlic bread which at least was hot.

Used to be a great pub..

The Middle Pub, Mullumbimby, is iconic. Situated on the central intersection in Burringbar Street, it's upper floor has the most charming wrought iron balcony on two sides from which one can view the comings and goings on the main street, view the sunsets and be in close proximity to the noisy Lorikeets vying for space in the Bangalow palms.
However, to get upstairs to this rare balcony, it is unbelievably disheartening to see the filthy carpet on the stair treads and the build up of dirt in the corners of each step. The bannister too has not been wiped clean for who knows how long. 
The landing has not had a good scrub for decades judging by the build up of spills over a long period of time.
On the balcony itself, also long overdue for a good spit and polish, one is confronted with most unattractive furniture one could possibly encounter on such an otherwise beautiful balcony. 
It is without doubt an incredible injustice to a rare building as this, in the heart of Mullumbimby.

Confounded by dirt and grime

Booking online was easy. Room great but paper thin walls. Didn't need to hear conversation from guy next door with his lawyer.  $19 for a beer and Chardonnay. Surf and turf for dinner - steak was so tender but chips Stone cold! Beef curry was tasty but needed more kick.

Overnight Stay

Customer service very poor by young barmaid on two occasions.  When I asked where check in was she pointed to the reception area and no one was there which she could see.  Barmaid didn’t assist by getting anyone, we waited well over 10 minutes.  Behind the reception bar were many kegs which they had to walk around to get to reception bar.  Second occasion was later on, she ignored us when we wanted to order a drink.  Is because we were not locals??   Hotel did not have  many car spaces.  Could not use TV remote as batteries flat in our room. Hotel needs a lot of maintenance and customer service training.
