Charming cottages on a hill beside Tilcara. We loved this place. Lots of charm and soul. Nicholas and his partner have developed a relaxing and natural cluster of adobe hiluts on the hillside above Tilcara. This is not cookie-cutter tourism. Each cottage is unique and built in local style. All modern conveniences. There is also breakfast and yoga on offer. I can warmly recommend if you are looking for a nice place off the beaten track!

Words are not enough to describe how magical Malka is. On the top of a hill overlooking Tilcara and the gorgeous mountains, a nest of rooms set in beautiful nature. The room I stayed was spacious yet homely. The cafe area is a lovely respite where you can make tea and fresh orange juice. And the yoga/ meditation studio is available for some time off. I had a massage there and it was gorgeous! The owners and workers are so lovely, welcoming and helpful!
Bottom line: I’ve been travelling in Argentina for a month and this is the best place I’ve stayed in, so much so I didn’t want to leave! Cannot recommend it enough!

We came to Tilcara in evening time, searched for a place to stay for the night, and luckily arrived to Malka.
The place was magical. Between all the great scenary of the north, this place offers a high level of hospitality. The rooms were lovely and you can feel the love of the owners to this place, as they paid attention to a lot of small details.
The breakfast is very tasty and self made.
The staff were all super nice and welcoming.
The only thing you should consider is it's distance from the center. We had a car so it was very easy to go and return. 

I ended up staying here for a week in a private bedroom - it was great, the owners go out of their way to make your stay great ( When I told them there was a small issue with the shower they literally ran down to fix it!).

There is a space for yoga and meditation (yoga is 200 arg pesos a class ) And the space is really nice , and at this time of year really not crowded

 It is in the upper part of town, so a tiny bit out of the wAy but totally still close to everything - if anything it is nice that it is a bit isolated. If you're walking there , there is a short segment that is a bit steep but again it was only tiring when I had my big bagpack on - They have 2 adorable dogs and breakfast is basic but nice. 

Note that there was only wifi in the cafeteria, which works fine for basic messaging but certainly not streaming! Not that you'll feel the need to do it here :) tilcara has plenty of nice easy restaurants and is greAt to visit other landmarks such as humahuaca, pumamarca and iruya.

Definitely recommend it!!!

Wow. Simply wow. This was just what we needed - a quiet and beautiful space in the mountains. Such a great place and amazing hosts that were amazingly helpful for us not speaking Spanish. You really get into zen here! Probably the best place we have ever stayed during our travels! Muchas gracias Teresa y Juan! 

I stayed here for a couple nights and really loved my stay.

It's beautifully set at the top of a hill in Tilcara. Rooms are really clean, well equipped and comfortable with comfy beds, lockers, bedside tables etc.  The dorm area has a kitchen and dining area for guest use and is quite spacious.

There is also a 'cafe' area which functions as the breakfast room and wifi hotspot.  The breakfast is good with delicious home-baked breads, homemade jams, fruit, tea and coffee.

Great views over the Quebrada from the guesthouse and a great area for lounging and watching the sunset too.

It's not so hard to find in the daytime, but arriving at night was a little harder and a bit scary as the streets are dimly lit and there are stray dogs (not dangerous but noisy) barking.

The view from the hostel was just stunning. We were only there 1 night but would have ideally liked to stay longer. It was a really relaxing place and was set out beautifully.
The breakfast was great.
The staff were very friendly and helped us plan our hike for the morning.
The rooms and bathrooms were well presented and clean.

the place is perfect. A beautifill garden, activities like yoga and meditation. The shower and hot water are great. The rooms are very kind, and friendly. Breakfast homemade, cake, bread, toasts, jam, coffee, other organics coffees if you want, just amaizing. The staff are very very friendly, helping you with everything they can. Just perfect.

A great hostel with good facilities but more importantly a warm welcome. Great settings on top of the town in a peaceful area which was great after all the driving on the N40. I would really recommend it
