Lumra Rooms

We didn't regret our decision to stay 3 nights at the property. To begin with, having read reviews about the road (leading to the property) conditions, we were ready for a challenge. Since it hadn't rained for some time, the road was OK. However, there are some strips on the way to the property which are too narrow for two cars to pass each other (we got to and from Lumra rooms three times not meeting another car). The house is rather new, tastefully decorated with a well kept garden. We got a room on the first floor. The view from the balcony was stunning, with Corfu island in the distance. We sat there each evening watching the sunset. The room was rather spacious, with a double and a single beds, a sofa and a fridge. We had 3 dinners at the property and I must admit these were the tastiest meals during our 12 day stay in Albania. We were offered the local specialty, the beef with mashed potatoes, which was so delicious that we had the same dish 3 days in a row. The salad was from the owners' garden. They had 1 local red and 1 white wine only. We didn't like the white one, however, the red appeared to be pretty good. The price was low considering the quality of the food (650 lek for the beef, 400 lek for a plate of salad and 200 for a glass of wine, around 10 euros). The property accepts only cash and you are welcome to pay in euros which was very convenient for us. We used one day for sighseeing to Butrint (a must!), overcrowded Sarande and Ksamil. If you need a free parking space, you need to inform the owners in advance. We were happy to have a parking space under the roof. The road down to the beach was around 10 min and back 15-20. The road itself is spectacular since it is surrounded by olive trees. The beach is pebbly as is the sea (with patches of sand) so water shoes are highly recommended. The water is very clean. Very few people if any which was a huge advantage. Peaceful, excellent for rest. 2 sunbeds with an umbrella cost 4 Eu a day. There is a cafe on the beach called the Old Anchor. The road to the beach was some challenge, partly because it was so hot (around 40)
