Grand Hotel Betsy

A simple & quiet hotel to stay in far away from home. Located in heart of Lima: Miraflores, adjacent to BBVA Continental Bank and Wong Super-market just 1 block where you can get almost everything for daily life. Not only the super-market, other famous chain restaurants are just 1-2 blocks away. The entrance of the hotel is small like a private door kept closed for safety reasons (though there's no fear of any danger in this area of Lima). On the entrance you will find seating arrangement with someone to help you out to get to your room located in back part of the reception building. Yes behind this building is another building for the guests with a nice planned garden in front of it. You can visit the hotel's website to get a real view of the hotel; it is exactly as the pictures on their website. The staff is helpful especially the lady at the reception who works from morning 7 till afternoon 3 who can be seen is more happier than anyone whenever she helps her guests; truely you will feel happy from heart when you see a staff so much happy to help you. The room had a bed, dressing table, a chair, a microwave so that you can also cook some food, utensils, air-conditioner (rarely found in any budget hotel in Lima), cup-board, refridgerator, bathroom with a hair dryer & toiletries. As I am a pure vegetarian, availability of the microwave was a boon to me as I could cook my food myself (buy food from Wong Super-market right next to the hotel) as I stayed there for about 20 days for business. It also has a room for meeting & another room with 2 computers equipped with internet & printer for the guests. Location of the hotel is quite easy & well-known by the taxi drivers in Peru. Cons: the room smelled foul at sometimes; i guess the smell came from the bed-sheet or somewhere from the quilt. Some days the cuckoo & pigeons that stayed nearby hotel used to create lot of noice disturbing the sleep if you get awake by the slightest sound. The breakfast (for a vegetarian & staying 20 days) is not so good, has very very limited option - only hard buns, tea/coffee, butter/jam, papaya/apple - the same for 20 days continuously is too boring. Also they serve you the breakfast on table whatever you want & is not in buffet style. The breakfast area is on the top floor (forth floor) with gaps in the roof - so sometimes in winter is very cold during breakfast. Apart from it, I dont remember any issues with the hotel.
