Travelers Youth Hostel

Staff in this hostel are so friendly ，they were patient to answer our questions ，and tried their best to help us to know more things about Dengfeng and Shaolin Temple.
The room is very clean, and hot water is very strong. We saw great sunrise on the roof of the hostel! We were so happy that we have 3 nice days in this hostel.

Good Hostel to stay！

We went to Shaolin Travelers Hostel in October for only one night and we stayed in a double bed room.
Pros of this hostel:
-The staff is just wonderful. They helped us a lot with information and trying to solve a problem we had.
- The location. If you're planning go to shaolin temple, the bus stop is 10 min walking away from the hostel.
- There's a lot of restaurants and supermarkets by the hostel
- The bedroom was clean and comfortable

Cons:
- The toilet. There's only one toilet, shared for males and females for the whole hostel. The washroom was actually separated and without privacy. The worst part (which needs some remodelling) is the shower room: no hot water, no independant showers so it can happen to wait for a long time to get one, besides, the showers didn't work very well.

Anyway, we enjoyed our stay there and I recommend this hostel for travellers.

Cheap and convenient hostel

Our stay was enhanced greatly by Trey ( an american staff member) who checked us in and gave us advice on what to do in the area. He was even nice enough to walk us to his favorite restaurant and order in Chinese for us. We had difficulties the next morning when trying to ask about busses with the non English speaking staff however. The dorm room was average, with a pretty dodgy shower. The major problem we found with the place was a lack of common areas to sit and hang out or eat. It means the dorm room is the only space for people to socialize which makes sleeping early difficult.

Cheap with good service

We stayed off season there, almost empty. Only one room has hot shower,  room 301, so don't book it and everyone can use it. Great service for shaolin temple and good street food arround it. Pretty cold in winter, so get a sleeping bag

Ok hostel with nice staff

So Trip Advisor refused to post my original post, so I'll try again...

This hostel is scary as hell. It looks extremely old and used to it's limit, and is in need of a refurbishment so bad. The main lobby/communal area is small and a little grubby. The toilet situation is quite funny too. Some of the rooms have a private shower and toilet, but the communal toilet is a single squat and two urinals within 5 feet of each other. The toilets were not cleaned since my stay and unsure if they have been for a while. The shower is another story. A room with 5 or 6 pipes in which only two of these work. There are no shower nozzles, do the water just trickles out similar to a garden hose. The water was hardly ever got, and when requested if the not water could be turned on we either had to wait 30-40 minutes or was told there is none.
Stayed in a 10 bed dorm which was empty with just two other travellers. The room was pretty cold, the beds hard and not very clean. And when one of the travellers left the bed was not changed and made for the remaining two nights we stayed.

The walls are covered in graffiti from previous travellers (which I guess they are using as art for their walls!, but the latest "entry" that we could find was from 2012... 
Surely someone has stayed here since then...
But from photos to the side of the place, I'd say this used to be a busy hostel, but now just a host town.

The only upside were the staff. One lady (Coco) could disk English pretty well, but she wasn't about much. The other the ladies some no English at all, but managed to help us if we needed it. They were very friendly. 

In all honesty, avoid this hostel like the plague.
