Yannian Tietong Hotel (Hehua Road Metro Station)

Ok, so I have stayed in lots of hotels and hostels in China. I am a budget minded person and normally shoot for the cheaper places. That being said, I needed a place in Changsha that was not too far from the airport and at the same time looked like it might have some fun areas to go walking around. This hotel caught my eye more due to the location than the price. This was one of the most expensive places I stayed in, but it was still under $30. After looking at the images on this site, the place looked a bit rundown and I was not sure how bad the room was going to be. When I arrived at the hotel, the outside looked just as run down as the images. however, I was pleasantly surprised that the room I booked was rather nice, mostly clean, and had no strange smells. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly, however, none of the staff spoke English. I have a bit of Chinese under my belt, so communicating was not a problem. There were a few "bad spots to the room, the bathroom sink was cracked, there was a little mildew around the very bottom of the toilet, there was a section of the ceiling that had been fixed, the air conditioner made a little noise when it kicked on, and the drapes had a few wear holes in them. Nothing major, but if you are being picky... Ok, now from here, the Hunan Museum and Peoples Park are only 2.5 miles away. I spent hours just walking up and down streets. Lots of shops and places to eat close by. Give it a shot.
