Magic Sun Tan Motel

Nice older motel, nothing fancy,our room was clean and on upper level with view overlooking the bay. Staff was very helpful. Pool is small and unheated, take your own chairs, looks out over the bay. On occasion you will see dolphins swimming by the motels fishing docks. Close to the Rockport beach, restaurants and shopping of all kinds. Will stay here again. Nice for families.

Suntan motel family time

Discovered my on-line reservation never made it through the internet when I tried to check-in.   Some kind of computer glitch between Travelocity, Experian and the motel.  The management was very helpful and found another motel near by that was willing to give me a room at the same reservation price!  I really appreciated their assistance and friendliness and I'm sure you would too.

Very helpful management at the Magic Sun Tan Motel

The perks: Great location across from the water, still need to take your vehicle to get to beach area.  We grilled outside (bought a grill).  Small, but ok pool for family fun. Spacious efficiency type unit.

The downside: Nothing fancy or modern about it; the tiled floor felt dirty to step on barefooted; Bathroom needed a better coverup on the window that faced the backside; dead cockroach or waterbugs in bathroom area; everything was old, old, old, rusty regular sized fridge all spotted on the outside, broken sink parts, though it was functional, felt greasy in the kitchen area; can't remember if any pots/pans, so best to take your own in case those are supplied but probably on the peeled side with no teflon left on them. It's almost like what was there was gotten from a dump or salvage yard.

We could have used an ample supply of household cleaning products, dishwashing soap, mop, broom, wipes or cleaning rags, so prepare yourselves with these if you stay here. Paid close to $200 p/night.

Great Location. That's About It!

Stayed here for 2 nights in late summer 2014, last minute reservation and the only availability I could find.  Room was spacious (an efficiency), clean except for the door of the fridge - was covered in grease from the stove directly in front of it.  Disappointing to say the least.  Couldn't connect to the wireless; went to the office and they said they were having trouble too.  Never was able to connect.  TV remote stopped working so I took that to the office.  They told me how to re-program it but never got that to work again either.  
Nice location with pool, fishing pier and small fenced area.
I've stayed in nicer places for less $$.

Not too bad in a pinch

Price inexpensive. You get what you pay for. Most of lights on pier were burned out for fishing.  When I complained. Was told they are renovating and haven't gotten that far. Must be hard to change a light bulb. Big bulbs maybe but light on the pier area was a normal bulb. Internet access is a joke; slow and dropped a lot. Had to find Internet access at a Starbucks for my daughter to turn in online school work!
