We stayed here one night recently and had a positive experience. What I liked most about this hotel is that the General Manager and Assistant General Manager were both super hard-working and dedicated to their jobs. Those two literally handled the entire breakfast in the morning by themselves (cooking, cleaning, throwing away the garbage, etc) and were super attentive to the customers' needs. They also mentioned that the two of them personally changed out all the mattresses in the hotel recently by themselves due to the staffing shortage. I was beyond impressed and would definitely stay here again if visiting the Waterloo area. My kids also enjoyed the pool.

Managers were fantastic!

Visiting my niece with my 77yr old mom. She fell outside of sheel’s & landed on her face (her head bounced up 3times) & fractured her nose, had to have 7 stitches in her nose, & horrible road rash on her forehead, nose & knees.  My niece called every where trying to find a motel. The staff went beyond helping my mother to get comfortable in the handicapped room. Checked on us before we went to bed (didn’t get out of the hospital till 9pm)& brought her extra blanket’s (I like it cold.) let us stay an hour later because mom wasn’t able to move around very fast. They had people call in that day & the front desk had to clean rooms & they did such a good job & still took the time out to make sure we were okay!  The manager’s the very next morning we’re out standing!!  Mom didn’t want anyone to see her & I was able to bring breakfast to her in the room & kept it open a little longer for me to get a waffle for myself.  Most definitely will stay here when we come back to visit my niece!  THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS EASIER!!

Love this place!!

The good - less than $100, fairly quiet, comfortable beds, easy in and out from the highway, very few guests, clean enough, staff was friendly - especially the breakfast attendant.

The bad - refrigerator was inoperable (room 208), drywall had rotted away from the top around the window from what appeared to be water damage, the quality of the breakfast was below average, the shower curtain rod was pulling out of the wall in a way that caused the shower curtain sag to the middle and leave large gaps on each side near the walls

Summary - for the price I would certainly stay here again. Just don't set your expectations too high

Not great, not terrible - just ordinary

We stayed here two years ago and again this year while in town for a swim meet for our daughter. Two years ago everything was very new, bright, and clean. We were very impressed, so we decide to stay again this year. It didn't seem like the same hotel this time. There was mildew in the shower, the refrigerator made loud noises all night, dust had accumulated in the corners of the room,  and my key card sometimes worked on the door - but often didn't. Things weren't as clean or kept up as I expected. On the positive side, the the beds were comfortable and my son enjoyed swimming in the pool. We will likely look for a different hotel if we come back to this swim meet next year. 

Not as nice as it was a couple of years ago

Do not go to this hotel. My husband got me a suite for my birthday. The TV was on one of those swiveling mounts on a back board. I merely touched the tv to fix the positioning and the whole damm thing fell. The back board, tv and all. If my two year old was standing right there she would have been crushed. No manager was present to talk to on all the days I was there.

A good king bed, friendly folks at the desk, good advice on dinner restaurants,... good shower and a quiet night. The TV got the football game nicely, but the Broncos lost. That may not be the Holiday's fault. This is convenient to the highway.

Friendly people- good Holiday Inn

Not sure when this hotel opened but it wasn’t very long ago. Good location easy to get to. Clean, quiet and a great staff. This hotel has everything you would expect. We would stay here again if we were in the area!

Brand new

I arrived late and it was exactly what I was looking for, very quiet and with a spectacular room, a very comfortable bed and no noise in the rooms, a very good and well-located breakfast.

TRANQUILO is the name of the country.

Check-in was smooth, easy access to elevators & our room. The complementary hot breakfast was excellent—the hostess kept the food area replenished & circulated the dining room offering additional service to guests who were eating. 
Our beds were comfortable, it was reasonably quiet & virtually no traffic noise. Not sure the property was at full occupancy, we were there before UNI move-in date. I am sure it will be full on busy weekends at the University.  Plan ahead and reserve early.

Comfortable, convenient, easy access from US 20 and to UNI

Appears to be brand new, everything super clean and modern, is off the hwy in an industrial area, but very quiet out here and very close to lots of restaurants, very nice stay, staff very friendly and helpful
