Fantastic
1066 reviewsBeen visitors to the Lake District / Ambleside for many years, with B & B's being our main option. This year was no exception and we (my wife and I) booked in for a four night stay (Mon - Fri) at the Elder Grove. The accommodation is at the very start of Ambleside as you enter into the main centre making it an ideal location to set base and is within walking distance of Shops and restaurants. Buses run frequently and stops are nearby giving access to Windermere / Bowness and Grasmere / Keswick and beyond. From the moment we set foot in the place we knew we had made the right choice. We were greeted instantly with a warm welcome from Giles. It was noted straightaway that cleanliness was a priority in this B&B. Having checked in we went to our room and again straight away we were well chuffed with how clean the room was. It was noted that the Bathroom Toiletries provided were of high quality and Tea / coffee facilities were plentiful. It was obvious that Andrea and Giles had high standards in offering their guests the best. Giles is the main man when it comes to the 'Cheffiness' of the business. Believe me his food is second to none. Later we were met by Andrea - who takes on the roles of Housekeeping and waitressing at Breakfast. Nothing was ever too much trouble for either Andrea or Giles. They appear determined to make your stay as smooth and comfortable as possible with good knowledge of local eating places. Andrea is very polite and always wear a beaming smile when you see her. Would strongly recommend the Elder Grove as a place to stay for B&B. No hesitation from us in staying here again next time we are in the area. A Big Well Done to Andrea and Giles. Also there is free parking at the side / rear of the B&B Try as we may we could NOT find any negatives with this accommodation or indeed the hosts, Andrea and Giles.
