We stayed with The Jays in July for a wedding. They were so accommodating, helpful ad hospitable. We were made to feel really welcome and the breakfasts were fantastic!! The rooms were comfortable  and it was just a very friendly place to be!

Had the pleasure of staying with Jan n john over night for the very sad time of my fathers funeral they made our stay very easy going at a hard time n went the extra mile would highly recommend very lovely people and a stunning place to stay with 5* accommodation

I had the pleasure of staying with John & Jan for a couple of months whilst in the area with work.  I felt completely at home, John & Jan were very accommodating and friendly and anything I asked for was immediately provided.  

They took great interest in how I was enjoying my stay and I enjoyed my daily chats with them on return from work, tea and cake always on offer!

Clean room with shared bathroom facilities.  I was free to use the kitchen whenever I wanted to make a cup of tea or use the microwave and I could also store food in a fridge/ freezer.  Due to the length of my stay Jan was kind enough to launder my clothes several times; a decent iron is also freely available.

John & Jan provided a room where I could sit with my computer and work late in the evening when needed and were very understanding of my work commitments.

Breakfast is of a good standard and included in the price.  I think you’d struggle to find a nightly rate anywhere in the UK providing the value for money that the Jays done.  Based on personal experience, staying at the Jays will save you a lot of money compared to the hotels in the local area.

The Jays building itself is olde worlde and charming; there are 2 separate wifi networks owing to the thickness of the walls! – One for upstairs and one for downstairs.

Whimple is a nice village with 2 pubs, which serve good food and a friendly pint; very nice locals.  There is also an excellent local chip van which parks outside the Jays on a Friday; recommended.  A small shop 10 metres across the road from the Jays provides essentials; larger supermarket and restaurant facilities are a short drive away.  Free local parking is available close to the Jays.  There is also a train line a 5 minute walk from the Jays which runs into Exeter.

Overall, an excellent value for money B&B run by very nice people.

The most remarkable thing about our stay at Jays was the hospitality shown by Jan and John. Right from the start we were made to feel at home and unlike many B and B's, were welcome to come and go as we pleased! 
The breakfast was awesome with considerable choice offered, the rooms comfortable and clean and the village of Whimple a relaxed and lovely place; a perfect place to explore the beautiful county of Devon! 
There is safe parking outside and the Jays is only a short drive from Exeter Airport.
We will definitely be going back!!

The. perfect place to stay if touring around Devon, The Jays is a very comfortable and friendly guest house you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend John and Jan are the perfect hosts.
You will get a great breakfast cooked fresh to order The Jays is in a very friendly village with good local pub
