The White Swan

Very friendly staff, good beers, pool table &darts, games, welcoming atmosphere, good music, lovely juke box. Box ciders, with ice offered on the side. Food is great, arrived promptly, well cooked and delicious. We will definitely come back!

A good fun, lots of laughs quiz on Thursday evening - even if I didn’t win :( - seemed to be personally researched and written by quizmaster, who was not adverse to offering up clues!! We had a smashing time, see you next visit.

We felt welcome here  on our January visit to swanage for my wife's birthday in january. the board games are an added laugh and the beer is well looked after. Although we didn't try the food the lunch menu looks good and it is a dog friendly pub...

What a good night. Great food, great drinks, then it got even better.
There was a really fun pub quiz and after kareoke.
You may think kareoke isn't fun. Well this is something different. Everyone got behind the singers. (I'm not normally a kareoke person). 
The staff were so, so lovely and the manager (Simon), was very attentive.
We would come here again.
We had come here for a few drinks a couple of days before and we loved it.
Come here, you'll love it.

My group of friends enjoyed a great lunch at the White Swan in swanage on a busy Bank Holiday weekend. The food was hot, tasty and in good time. The staff were friendly and professional. The chicken wings were especially excellent! Only a 1 minute walk from the beautiful beach or park.

Visited the White Swan on Wednesday evening with my wife. Greeted at the door by Simon who was a very pleasant chap! Had a good great atmosphere made by I guess the locals who use the bar, plenty of happy faces. Had a lovely meal and a couple of drinks at what I would consider a fair price. I have to say Simon went that extra mile by making us up a cracking cheese board which wasn’t on the menu, delicious! Thank you to all of the staff, seen and unseen, for making a Wednesday night in Swanage very enjoyable. Ps have the liver and bacon it’s great! Cheers all, we shall return.

Really friendly staff, good facilities and the quiz on a Thursday night is really good (free to enter). Dog friendly and very clean. Great guest ales. We came second and won a meal but couldn’t make it so they gave us wine instead which was super kind

Great selection of ales and lagers both local and otherwise, and very friendly staff too. We did the pub quiz here one night while on holiday in Swanage and it was great fun. We came second and the prize was for 50% off their Sunday lunch menu which would have been after we’d gone home. They sorted us with a couple of bottles of wine to go - really great considering the current 10PM curfew. Will absolutely be coming back again next time! 

Smashing proper town pub with a lovely  greeting from the Gvnrs daughter and very intentive with my Mum and being in her late 80s was very impressed with the facilities, which were very clean and the gents too.
The fish and chips which I had was very tasty and Mums tarragon chicken on mashed spud was very tasty as well, the chicken was just a little tough for my Mum, I could see with chewing it myself. Apart from that, overall I think it's a great pub with a good chef cooking tasty food and the pint and half bitter was lovely too.
We'll be back soon.

Lovely atmosphere on a cold winters day set by live music in the day time. Food was very tasty, by far the nicest roast I've had in a while! Very dog friendly too. Which is a bonus, Would highly recommend!

Great venue, full house but love the atmosphere and vibes.

Friendly staff, good beer and atmosphere, food looks good and trying with reasonable gin menu but why on earth think selling Britvic tonic is acceptable??! Surefire way to kill any gin.. Such a shame

Went along after a long walk and staff were attentive and good service provided when buying a couple of refreshers to cool us down.

Used the loos and they are quite frankly antiquated, broken base, and need repair / refit. 

When we were sat in the garden a member of staff came out with various orders and enquired as to who had ordered them - surely a table number would work whereby staff aren’t wasting time or food by this outdated way of service?

On the whole a pleasant visit but pub could do with some new toilets and table numbers.

We were hungry and would have ordered food here but the points above explain why we didn’t and went elsewhere, which is shame, as were both Hank Marvin after walking 16 miles, maybe another time…

Not Quite Good Enough

We visited this pub for lunch on the 1st September as a family. I wish I could say that our experience was a pleasant one. Firstly, we thought the place had a very tired look about it. In the garden where we had some lunch was a dilapidated space heater in sore need of repair and the overall impression was not good. Pressed by our grandchildren to order food we eventually received some garlic bread and some fried chicken. The garlic bread covered with cheese was quite small considering its high price tag of £7.50. The chicken was rubbery and both items were left uneaten. Swanage was very busy that lunchtime at the height of the summmer but this pub was almost empty. I can now see why.

Disappointing.

Went by chance as open Mike at Red lion cancelled due to flooding.  Dawg and Bones band not particularly impressive in a very packed pub. Think numbers reflected lack of other blues venues. Shame so few this year due to covid. Beer and cider good. Friendly staff.  

Blues festival visit 

Been a regular visitor to Swanage all my life and have always enjoyed the White Swan. Sadly I won't be returning after popping in last night. The place looked a chaotic mess, dirty, and much was closed off, it's really gone downhill. They have (had) a nice rear courtyard but we couldn't enjoy the warm evening outside, as the room to the courtyard was in darkness and a chair was placed in the walkway to prevent access. We asked if we could sit outside and was told no. We ordered double drinks with mixers, they were served in very small glasses, making the drinks too strong, so we asked if they could be put in something a little larger to allow a bit more coke, and was shown a dirty pint glass! The place had several very drunk customers, who helped pull the atmosphere down and create a tense vibe. Should be a cracking pub, but is clearly lacking effective management. Wish I had seen the other poor reviews before spending my money there.

Avoid, drastically gone downhill.

This was without doubt one of the most horrendous pubs I’ve ever visited. When ordering the drinks the person behind the bar was busy texting somebody, then she would stop and ask me to repeat my order. The food was severely overpriced and poor at best. To top it all off the bar attendant was busily speaking with customers at a level you needed earplugs. At the end we felt we had suffered enough and left without really eating the food. I would also add the place felt grubby and needed a good clean. Never again.
