Andy and Tanya are fantastic hosts - the rooms are always immaculate (we have stayed in 3 of them so far) and breakfast is always wonderful!
The Dunkery Beacon Hotel is set in the heart of Exmoor, the views are amazing and it is such a peaceful place to stay. There is so much to do and see in this area ~ you won't be disappointed!

Well this accommodation did not disappoint.

It was immaculately clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and the view was stunning.

We were upgraded to one of the four poster rooms with a separate sitting room and it suited our needs well. The upgrade was volunteered by the proprietors and was not sought. What a delight it was though. The rooms were warm and there were spare blankets, bath robes and quality toiletries.

I think whichever room we had would have been a very positive experience.

Breakfast was wonderful, plenty of choice, fresh fruit juices, delightful coffee. The full English was very nicely cooked, as was the scrambled egg muffin we also tried.

The proprietors were charming, parking  and situation was idyllic. One of my favourites, a small thing but so welcome, was the availability of fresh milk in a fridge in reception. The beverages in the room were first class all round.

I can highly recommend this for a stay and we hope to revisit in the future.

My husband and I wanted a relaxing, quiet and peaceful weekend, this is exactly what was waiting for us.  On arrival Tanya and Andy were the perfect hosts, Andy helped us to the room with our bags and we started to talk about restaurants. We mentioned that we had tried to book Reeves in Dunster, unfortunately it was fully booked. Andy came up with some other options. About 15 minutes later there was a knock on the door, it was Andy, he was on the phone to Reeves and had managed to book a table for us for the evening.  
The accommodation was excellent, our room was very comfortable, and we had a beautiful view over the Somerset countryside towards Dunkery Beacon.
The breakfast on both mornings was beautifully cooked, with excellent local produce and I can highly recommend the full English.
Andy and Tanya were always available to help and advise, and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning.

A brilliant place and such kind and welcoming hosts. The perfect weekend break in a wonderful location. The room was extremely comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Well positioned for visiting Dunster, Porlock, and walks from the doorstep onto Exmoor.

We had a nice room with a view over Somerset countryside.
The breakfasts were delicious, and served hot.
Tanya and Andy went out of there way to help us with recomendations for dinner and tours.

I can recommend Dunster castle, and the Tanya's recommended walk from the hotel.

I cannot praise this hotel enough! What an absolute gem of a find! Free, convenient parking was followed by a short walk up to the front door. We were then greeted by the lovely owners who showed us to our room and even made us a pot of tea. The room was spotless, with it's own small lounge and very comfortable beds. The room was very quiet and had lovely views out of both windows. The hosts had even gone to the trouble of putting up a birthday banner and they kindly provided two bottles of bubbly for my wife's big birthday! Breakfast each day was also superb and was so good that we couldn't manage lunch at all! Free WIFI is also provided throughout the whole building, which is again spotless, comfortable and well equipped. The service throughout our stay was just incredible and we will definitely be returning!

A lovely luxury stay with everything we needed. We were very well looked after and wanted for nothing. The room was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

Breakfast was a real treat with local ingredients and lots of choice. We will certainly be back!

The house is in a perfect location to explore Exmoor and West Somerset while also serving as a quiet and peaceful retreat. We packed loads into our break, from Dunster Castle to the Tarr Steps and seeking out Exmoor ponies. Room very spacious with stunning views. Andy and Tanya are wonderful hosts and we hope to return soon.

What’s not to like! Lovely friendly hosts who run a spotless bed and breakfast, extremely comfortable with a wonderful breakfast , the whole place has a lovely ambience with fantastic views. Please try this place for yourselves you won’t be disappointed!

We had a wonderful few days staying in an extremely comfortable room with far-reaching views. Tanya and Andy are wonderful hosts; we had a last-minute change to our booking and they were very understanding and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. 
Lots to see and do in the area; an early morning walk up Dunkery Beacon was a highlight and Dunster and its castle are well worth a visit. 
Wootton Courtenay is delightful and everyone we met was so friendly - a small village with a big heart.

Comfort and hospitality in a peaceful rural setting

We took the whole place to celebrate an 80th birthday. It was a wonderful couple of days with stunning walks, good local restaurants and pubs.
The trip was absolutely made by Andy and Tanya who looked after us so well. They managed to produce a full breakfast for 20 of us both mornings, and couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. 

We brought our dog and they provided treats, a dog bowl, and a couple of throws for the furniture which was a really nice touch.

Wonderful place in stunning location run by very friendly hosts.

Unfortunately, we only spent one night in this immaculately presented and sympathetically decorated former Hunting Lodge.

We were thrilled to find it positioned on the edge of the delightfully quiet Exmoor village of Wooton Courtney, and approached via beautifully maintained gardens.

From its elevated location, our ground-floor bedroom had enviable views across Exmoor National Park, looking gently upwards towards Dunkery Beacon (the highest point on Exmoor, Somerset, and in southern England, outside of Dartmoor).

Andy & Tanya are the consummate hosts, who clearly care deeply about their guests’ overall experience and wellbeing, serving-up only the finest locally sourced produce in impeccable style.

Having stayed in an eclectic mix of high-quality accommodation over the years, we can honestly say Dunkery Beacon Country House is right up there with the very, very best of them.

Would we stay here again…. without any question we would, and for longer than only one night next time!

Oh and the bed was lush.....

Cannot improve on the superlatives given by other guests. Suffice it to say my husband said ne’d enjoyed every single minute even when unconscious - a tribute to the very comfortable beds & quiet location. Great location with marvellous views. Best food I’ve had anywhere - locally sourced,imaginatively prepared & beautifully presented. Individual requests are willingly catered for & Jane seems to have a phenomenal memory for guests’ preferences & creates a calm welcoming atmosphere. Many guests are “repeats” & we aim to join that happy band having booked our next visit.

We enjoyed another 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel. As previously, our room & public areas are spotless.  Staff are efficient, helpful & very friendly. The meals were excellent. John (chef) never fails to please with his fantastic cooking.  John & Jane are perfect hosts making everyone's stay most enjoyable. A perfect stay to enjoy my birthday.
