Just got back from a 4 night stay, and cannot fault this beautiful place. A clean and pretty lodge with everything you could need inside. We were tucked away in a corner lodge with a hot tub facing the trees and it was so peaceful. The hot tub and sauna were perfect and part of the relaxing stay. Staff throughout were friendly and the grounds are well maintained. There are lots of lovely walks you can do around site also. We will be coming back for sure.

A piece of heaven

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of January with our 3 year old and 10 month old. What a fantastic find Darwin forest was!

We had a 2 bedroom lodge which was very clean, cosy, well equipped and a good size for us all. 

The site was perfect for our family. We used the swimming and soft play, both of which were great. Staff all around the resort were very friendly and very quick to help when needed. The Christmas decorations which were also still up looked lovely.

On reflection, a 3 night stay was not long enough for us. As we wanted to explore the wonderful Peak District it meant that we didnt get chance to make use of the other facilities and activities on site (mini golf, on site walks, activity room etc) which all looked fantastic.

We would recommend Darwin Forest to everyone, and book a lodge with a hot tub when we return next time!

Fantastic find in the Peak District 

Just got back today and we absolutely loved every minute here. The facilities was excellent for my 2 year old from soft play x2 (there’s a quiet one for younger children), swimming was brilliant, woodland walks were easy to follow the farm round the corner was so good we went twice. Matlock is less than 10 mins away if you need a town.  The cabin was spot on for us and we can’t wait to book again maybe go for a hot tub next time. If you have a young family don’t think twice it’s all on your beautiful door step! We had rain all week but we even loved the puddles.

A young family’s paradise 

Just returned from a twixmas break at Darwin Forest with the family. Absolutely love every thing about this park lovely clean warm lodge with a hot tub and pet friendly. My grandaughter loved little monkeys and swimming, managed a Forest walk very soggy but so is everywhere else at the minute. Lovely meal in foresters nice to be able to sit in the bar area with the dog, have already booked to return next December.

Post Christmas family break

We stayed in Darwin Forests' sister park Sandybrook in the Summer so we already had high expectations for this place. And we were not let down! Both places are amazing! Lodges are spacious, fully kitted, clean and well maintained. We had a comfortable winter break. The swimming pool is a good size and perfect temperature and the soft play was a great hit with the kids. There's also plenty do in the Peak District. Highly reccomend this place! We will definitely be returning in the future.

A Lovely winter break.

Brilliant location and really friendly staff who were happy to help whenever we needed it. Lots of facilities on site and not too far way from Chesterfield and Matlock. The lodges was spacious and well equipped. Hot tub is relaxing even if it’s a bit cold out. Will definitely be back soon!

Brilliant relaxing week away!

Had a lovely few days away. This place is brilliant. Very peaceful and a relaxing holiday. The grounds are spotlessly clean and the site has a great pub onsite. The pub on site is really good. We were served by a lovely lady called Jess who was absolutely amazing. In fact she was so good we only went in when she was on duty. Charming, professional and tentative. Jess stood out to us as a member of staff who actually cared that we had a great experience. We will be back for sure.

We've just come back from a lovely weekend break here, our first, but definitely not our last visit.

The lodge is set in a beautiful setting, with beautiful forest trails. Very peaceful and relaxing.

We stayed in the spinney exclusive spa and it was just perfect. Well equipped with everything you could need for a weekend break, including TVs with a PS4, dishwasher, washing machine & coffee machine.. and all cleaned to a good standard. 
The bathroom was just amazing - free standing bath & a sauna. Then to top it all off a lovely covered hot tub 😍. After a long day walking in the peak District, the hot tub was just what was needed. 

I can't comment on the facilities as we didn't really use them this time around. We had everything we needed in the lodge and so used our lodge as a base to go and explore some beautiful walks around the peak district, which did not disappoint.

On day 1 we did a lovely walk from the park that was recommended from their website - Two dales & Ladygrove Woods. Day 2 we drove to Carstleton (about 30 mins drive away). We did a days walking from castleton, up mam tor, along the great ridge walk, up to loose hill and down to Castleton again via the village of Hope. I would highly recommend this walk, although at 8.5 miles, it isn't for the feint hearted. It does have some amazing views though.

Overall a lovely weekend break away and a perfect base to explore the beautiful peak district. in the peak District, the hot tub was just what was needed.

Spotlessly clean, inviting, and just what the Dr ordered, pure relaxation in gorgeous surroundings.  Nature on your doorstep...
And  hot tub to enjoy and unwind in...
Can't wait to book to come back... one happy family stay....oh and the dog loved it too
