There was a really warm welcome from all the staff at the Hare and Hounds. We spent the night there with our friends, both our rooms were beautiful, spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated in a modern country style. The rooms are well equipped with coffee making facilities, a little fridge with fresh milk and other thoughtful details to make sure of a comfortable stay. 
We had our evening meal at the pub, the food was excellent and the service good. The bar had a lovely cozy atmosphere and was always busy but nice.
Breakfast was very good, a great choice and enough to fill us up for the day. 
We loved our stay and will return, maybe in the summer to explore more of the surrounding area. Would recommend.

Great service and lovely food. A frequent visitor for lunch with family. Always made to feel welcome and the food choices are vast. Fresh and tasty food. Had the fish board which has divine curried mackerel and enough food for 4!

Spent 2 nights here as spotted on the Tesco Clubcard deal. Even without that bonus everything was faultless so would stay here again. Staff superb, room (Prickett) slightly on the small side, but great bed and fab shower. Toiletries, fresh milk and water in the small fridge, perfect. We loved the small residents lounge as it was quiet for reading and drinking wine after dinner. The bar and restaurant were very busy, (rightly so), as the food was great.

My wife and I recently spent an evening at The Hare and Hounds and I would thoroughly recommend.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are warm and cosy. The restaurant is a lovely room to eat in. Food was delicious, plentiful, and reasonably priced, and they sell a great pint of Guinness👌🏻.

I would definitely stay again.

Just spent an evening and night at the Hare and Hounds for my husband's birthday.  We were extremely happy with our choice . The friendliness of the owners was apparent right from check in , nothing was too much trouble . We were shown to a lovely room ,clean ,airey, huge shower ,loads of towels,plenty of storage ,and a very full refreshment tray ,with different teas,coffee ,sugar and even chocolate brownies. To top it off there was a fridge with water and fresh milk in . We were also advised just to ask if we needed anything replenishing.  
It was warm and cosy everywhere and despite it being the only bar /restaurant in the village there were no issues with noise at all. 
We had booked the restaurant for a meal that evening and were glad we did as it seemed very busy ( not too busy to be enjoyable). The menu was vast and the food we had was amazing. Hubby tried the lamb croquettes, the sea bass with mussels and the sticky toffee pudding.  All were described as delicious.  I had the spicy cajun chicken salad and fresh fruit salad with blackcurrant sorbet ,yummy !! . Drinks were reasonably priced and the service was excellent.  
We weren't sure it could be improved at breakfast next morning, but it was . There were lots of continental offerings including the best berry compote I've ever had . The sausages and bacon were   tasty and the bread was amazing (apparently baked in Grange ) . We had a huge pot of tea and coffee too. Again the service was excellent.  
We had a thoroughly pleasant stay and will definitely go again . A big thank you to the owners and their staff. 😊😊😊

As a party of 8, including grandparents and grandchildren finding an appropriate venue can sometimes be tricky. Thankfully The Hare and Hounds did not disappoint. Exemplary service, very warm and welcoming to everyone. We asked for slight modifications to the menu (you know what children are like!) and nothing was a problem. All the meals were delicious and the puddings were to die for. Thank you for such a lovely evening and we will definitely be back. 

Had a great meal there of lamb stew with Greek salad  (Greek style) and my wife had fish and chips. Pure perfection! Plus a bottle of very agreeable Chilean merlot. The place is fantastic, in a beautiful part of the near Lake District. If I lived closer by I would visit more often. The lady in charge was brilliant too.

Parking directly opposite the hotel. About 12 places but a very popular place to eat so an evening arrival might struggle to park. A very well decorated small room immaculately clean with TV, fridge, tea and coffee facilities and good WiFi. Nice size ensuite shower. A comfortable bed led to a really pleasant quiet nights rest. Breakfast full or lighter English breakfast or several good alternatives like salmon with scrambled eggs on toasted bread, cereals, fruit and yoghurt. Fruit juice, tea or coffee and more. All tasty, well prepared and served in a very friendly efficient way. Dinner was a good choice of pub food at reasonable prices. I decided on the traditional English dinner roast beef and Yorkshire pud-ding with vegetables. Helen had Mediterranean tagliatelle with goats cheese. Both very tasty served in a pleasant new restaurant area, or it could be in one of the several cosy pub rooms. 

We were here for 3 nights as a couple while friends were staying in a local Caravan site.

The room is very very well appointed . A large bed , fantastic shower , fresh milk direct from the cow in your room!  Room Garnett .

We stayed for food on one night and wished we had stayed f’the next night . The quality and service was  most excellent.

The breakfast is exceptional with local produce .

We had to leave one night early due to our son having been given military leave at short notice . Yvonne and the owners were so understanding and it was not an issue regarding the booking . We are grateful . 

You know an establishment is good when they think of you before their needs.

We can not wait to come back . 

Please stay here , we have stayed in 5 star hotels in the Lakes and this was …..better .

We visited the pub for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday.  We went into The Barn Restaurant.  We had pre-booked but on a Tuesday midday in April it wouldn't have been necessary.  
The welcoome and service was excellent.  My husband and I had the Hot Seafood start, which was delicious, one of the best starters I've had for a while.  Then all three of us tried the pizzas, wel all wanted something different but this was no problem and they were all delcious.  We followed this with three different but equally delicious desserts.
An excellent visit and we will be back.  I would highly recommend.  If you go at busy times it would be advisable to book first.

A very comfortable stay

Magnificent staff, wonderful people  and a must stay .

EXCELLENT FOOD AND FRIENDLY SERVICE

It was literally a split second decision to turn off the duel carriage way because we were hungry on our way home after a nice break in The Lakes, and needed to find somewhere that wasn’t a motorway services to eat. We stumbled on this fantastic pub. Talk about finding gold… it had a warm comfortable feel from the moment we stepped in, with no reservation we still managed to get a table, and we did think we might not get one…. But we were lucky, and how lucky we were indeed. The food excellent, the staff though clearly busy.. were very pleasant and attentive. The food was hot and tasty. Well done H&H, it felt like we’d found a top London restaurant in much better surroundings.

A small detour that became a great surprise.

We absolutely loved our stay at this upscale Inn.  The room was lovely, well appointed and very comfortable.  The staff were so friendly and professional.  The shower was really good!  We slept very well!
We ate in the restaurant of the inn and our dinner was excellent!  For breakfast, they offered a great menu with cooked to order breakfasts.  
We definitely will return!

One Exceptional Night's Stay 

On arrival staff were upbeat and friendly. Our room was lovely and we enjoyed a great view! Nice touch to have a fan in the room as it was hot!! Menu selection suited us, everything very nicely cooked and prepared! Breakfast menu is fantastic including fresh fruit! Heather is a real diamond, with nothing too much trouble! Thank you.

Fantastic find!

Booked in for 2 nights Saturday and Sunday on bed and breakfast though would have been happier with evening meal as a package as well. The room “Bennet” was very clean and spacious with a full size freestanding bath and separate large shower. A fan was available and hairdryer though my wife always takes her own Boeing 747. There’s a small fridge with water milk and a variety of teas though no instant coffee only a cafetière. Breakfast was very good with high quality produce. I cut down on day 2 due to quantity. I recommend the Greek yogurt it was very good. We booked evening meals both nights but would have been happier with a little discount for the all in.
The staff were very good and service was fast even though the restaurant was very busy. Good quality all round only downside parking most appeared to be not patrons but bikers as empty bike racks on the back of several vehicles. We would both recommend this as a short stay visit.

Great stay

We booked in via a large website as we needed a place to break our journey to Scotland.  Check-in was simple, the room was lovely but very warm (I think it was above the kitchen) so we opened lots of windows and hoped we wouldn't get midges.  We didn't and all was well.  Breakfast was plentiful and we were on our way.  Would definitely stay again!
