Lovely welcome and very comfortable b and b in the middle of the Lake District.
Spectacular mountain views and an idyllic setting. Beautiful.

Very convenient and comfortable guest house in Patterdale where Alfred Wainwright used to stay (when it was called Ullswater View). Excellent drying room, lovely breakfast, comfortable bed, very helpful proprietor and staff and lots of books and items to fascinate anyone undertaking the great man’s Coast to Coast walk. A charming outdoor bar area for guests is particularly welcome for walkers on warm, dry summer nights!

Our first visit to Patrerdale & this wonderful B&B.  We were joining our family who were caravaning nearby.
We were so glad we chose this place the owners Andrea & Dave were so welcoming and their home is beautiful. Our room was lovely & over looked their fabulous garden! Airy room with en suite & immaculately clean.  The
Beds & pillows were very comfy indeed and myself & my husband slept so well.

Breakfast was delicious set us up for the day!  There is a lovely lounge to use with an honesty bar. We loved to sit outside in their amazing garden with the river babbling at the bottom of it great place to relax and enjoy your G&T! 

This was such a warm friendly place to stay with beautiful surrounding  the perfect place to relax chill & recharge your batteries!   We shall return at some point for sure!  Thank you Dave & Andrea for looking after us so we’ll see you soon. Jacqui & Gwilym Edwards x

Absolutely delightful stay! Dave & Andrea are delightful hosts.  The rooms are charming and after a long day walk on the Coast to Coast trail it was so nice to sit at the outside bar and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings with a drink.  I walked the C2C with my 14 year old son who is on the autistic spectrum.  Because of that there is very few foods he will eat so Dave was kind enough to heat some of the food I had brought for him and really helped accommodate him which as a father is so greatly appreciated.  Highly recommend both for the facilities and the warm and gracious hosts.

What a wonderful gem of a place. Set next to a small river that can be viewed from the dining room and our lovely bedroom.
A double bed and single bed set in a beautifully decorated room with en suite shower with a more than adequate shower.
Not walkers ourselves but we did take advantage of the drying room which I'm sure is a godsend for those more than adventourous than ourselves.
An honesty bar and again nicely decorated lounges with log burners if required. 

A really good breakfast and the opportunity to purchase packed lunches is a nice touch.

A very welcoming couple who gave recommendations for local eateries that we tried and tested during our 2 night stay.

We would certainly return.

So much care and attention to detail at this b&b.  Friendly helpful owners, warm, good hot shower, beautiful cotton sheets and bedding. Really comfortable beds. Great drying room. Breakfast is generous and efficient. 
Highlight was the amazing honesty bar and lounge with wood burner.

Stayed here whilst walking the coast to coast and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  This is a beautiful old stone, typically Cumbrian building in a lovely setting.  The hosts were very welcoming and there was the bonus of a drying room for boots etc.  I was lucky to have the room at the back with great views of the fells through the large roof veluxes.  There were several homemade preserves on sale but unfortunately as we were on foot we were unable to purchase any.  
As previously stated you could purchase items in the bar area such as bottles of craft beer etc and pay in the honesty box.  The breakfast was lovely.

We stayed at Water View as part of our Coast 2 Coast walk. I was looking forward to staying here because of the outdoor space and the  connections with Alfred Wainwright. The Water View was the perfect place to stay after a big walking day. We enjoyed the bar area and the dinner of jacket potatoes, ice cream and millionaire bars was perfect. Other hikers gathered by the fire for warmth and chats. Breakfast was great and we had an excellent start to our most demanding day. Thank you Dave for being such a great host. Also thanks to the chef for the amazing preserves.

Andrea and Dave are very welcoming, and their facilities are excellent.  Our room was extremely clean and comfortable and we had a good night's sleep.  It's in a great location for access to walks, Aira waterfall and the lakes.

I stumbled upon this little gem by chance. I was lucky enough to end in in their shepherds hut overlooking the river. The bed was comfortable and it was lovely and clean. The hosts, were warm and welcoming as where the other guests. It has a real family feel about the place and a great outdoor bar. They have an honesty box for late drinkers. You could not do that where I live. The views are incredible and the breakfast was local and fresh. I can’t recommend them higher.

The Old Water View is a great option for walkers, either as a stop on the C2C or as a home base for multi-day excursions. Dave and Andrea are gracious hosts, and the environment (most if not all of the guests are walkers)  was very collegial. The beer garden makes a lovely destination on a nice day. The Inn itself is a beautifully updated historic building. Rooms are super comfy. Must-visit for Wainwright fans.

Walker's Paradise

Fabulous location with hills and the C2C on your doorstep but also easy to get around the wider Lakes, a car is handy for this though there are buses. Great room with everything you need after a day out and about and the best bed we have slept in. Breakfast is a wide range of cold and hot options and I noticed that there were gluten free options too in the cereal which you don’t see everywhere. The jam and marmalade has such a range of choice it would stun my mother in law into silence! The choices continue to the honesty bar with gin, whiskey, wine and local beers being well represented. Hosts are helpful, informative and welcoming. All together it’s the perfect package and we would recommend it and will return.
