June 2021 there is a new owner and the main building is closed and undergoing renovations.  There is a bar open in the beer garden which was great, it became our favourite watering hole in Aberaeron. The staff were friendly and were quick to serve. (Due to covid it was table service only)

Stayed 3 nights this weekend and all was to our satisfaction. Got a great deal on the price with breakfast. Clean, quiet rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Ideally located in the middle of picturesque Aberaeron. Would definitely stay there again! 

What a lovely place!! Stayed one night with my husband, bedroom was spotless and very comfy, overlooking the harbour and the breakfast the next morning was outstanding, my husband had a cooked breakfast and I had the vegetarian option, both absolutely delicious and more than enough food, we will definitely return. Highly recommend!

Dident stay the night but had a meal here. When I looked at the menu what I wanted wasn't there however the chef went out of his way to accomodate me and the meal was delicious. Also a big thank you to Karen for looking after us. Super staff and I would highly recommend The Monachy.

Having walked around the whole of Aberaeron trying to find somewhere to eat which could cope with a family of 6, we were pleased to find the Monachty which is deceptively large inside. Large portions and friendly staff. Ideal for families and very reasonably priced.  

We stayed here recently, as part of a family reunion, and had a really good time.  We received a very warm and friendly welcome on our arrival, and this continued over the two nights of our visit.  Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and, if anything, over warm, but we quickly adjusted the temperature by turning down the radiator.
The breakfasts were legendary with more than enough to ea,t and the evening meal was equally as good.
The bar was stocked with excellent beers, wines and spirits, and the whole experience was very good value for money.
We would have no hesitation in staying here again and thoroughly recommend The Monachty.

A lovely Hotel.

Stayed here a number of times over the past three years and will no doubt do so again in the not too distant future. Love the location and the staff do their best but Brains need to spend some money on refurbishment both in the main building and the bedrooms.

Pub in a great location but in need of some TLC

great position in the centre of Aberaeron, room clean and comfortable. Only complaint was the pub itself, was dark and miserable, flies constantly in the bar area which was a right put off to order food, the manager was "off duty" drinking in the bar, not good for the atmosphere

midweek break

Went here with four other couples with the view to going back for food sometime. 
We were made to feel like a nuisance and not welcomed at all.
This place is never full and seldom has anyone in it at all for a casual drink.
With the attitude of the staff I'm not surprised. 
The locals have nothing good to say about it.
Very disappointed as we were looking forward to having a meal here

Dissappointed 

Visited today following a walk with my dog. Popped in for a coffee. Nobody behind bar when I arrived. Waited patiently for 3 To 4 minutes as I was not pressed for time.
Everybody else in the pub seemed to have been served. Eventually ran out of patience and said to the gentleman next to me "let them know they have lost a customer" and promptly left.
      Used The Castle across the road. Great service there.
