Lipe Camping Zone & Bungalows

We are staying here at present. We booked a bungalow with fan via booking.com which clearly shows pictures of a bamboo hut furnished with a sleeping mat and fan. Almost all bungalows in the Thai islands are bamboo huts of varying degrees of comfort so this was not a surprise to us. The property is half way between Pattaya and Sunset beaches and about a 5 min walk along the beach to Walking Street. Great location. The owner let us into our room early which was not expected and very definitely appreciated. The bamboo hut is even tolerable during the day with the fan on - a distinct bonus given the heat and Sun here at present. The bathrooms are basic but functional with cold showers (again not abnormal in the Islands) its much the same as bathrooms in campsites in england minus the rain and cold. I considered knocking a star off for the fact that compared to other islands it is slightly more expensive than similar accomodation but in the context of the other properties nearby and the prices they charge it is reasonable. If you have never camped before then the Thai islands are not the place to try it. If you are expecting 5 star or even 1 star hotel luxury then go somewhere else. If you want an inexpensive (by Lipe standards) place to crash then this is the place to go!
