We stayed there for 3 nights to start our trip to Sri Lanka. The situation: About 2km from the city centre on the hills, 200 rupees in tuk tuk or quite feasible on foot On the roadside, so a little noisy during the day but traffic stops at night. There is a restaurant 800m away for the evening, it is above a supermarket. The rooms: There are 2 rooms: we are located on the floor above the owner's part, with a common living room and water with tea and drinking water available. Our room was very spacious, clean, we wanted to see with three bathrooms, nice ventilation, storage and a chauffeur's room with a shower: we also wanted to meet this day with a price per day (which is rare): We took care of the hotel very early because we didn't have a proper breakfast, but we didn't pay a lot of attention to the hotel's services, so we decided to go back to the hotel, so we decided to take a few minutes to the hotel, so we decided to go back to the hotel and make a few more excursions, and then we went back to

Warm reception, spacious room away from the centre

Stayed here for one night and it was a very quiet and restful place. Host Chaminda and his wife were very helpful and made the stay comfortable. The room for a single occupancy was quite large and morning tea in the balcony was great. The door however needs a key on the inside or smoking of locking mechanism for a "feel safer" factor.

Quiet restful place

It was my first time being in Kandy. The hospitality given by Cham and Dham was great. From the time we arrive until we depart. It was only for one night we stayed. Accommodation was great for both families and couples. We highly recommend to stay in this place. 

Kandy Trip

Me and my family had great holiday in this house. Chaminda was very helpful. He took us up from railway station by his own vehicle and show us important places of this city [Kandy]. We had great lunch in Dinemore restaurant on the same day. Chaminda escorted our family to his guests house. We booked two rooms for our family. Which includes spacious bathroom with hot water showers, living room and small kitchen. Both the rooms were fully air-conditioned and overlooking city around. Chaminda family was very helpful and accommodated all our requirements. 
We did some tour with him in Nuwara Eliya and Kandy herb garden. Also we visited famous riverside in Kandy. It was amazing and stunning. Anniewatte House service was excellent and chaminda family was very helpful.
We will definitely come back to Kandy Anniewatte House.

My family holiday 

I stayed at Anniewatte house for a week and I have to say that the hospitality is absolutely positive from the whole family, good breakfast, room big maybe too much, private bathroom, it's a shame that the rooms are on the street quite busy where obviously everyone is playing and if you spend a night or two you don't care but after a week it becomes unbearable, good after 8pm until 7am it's quiet.

It's like family, but far from the city center.

Cham, Dhammi and their family were an absolute pleasure to stay with. They are all incredibly friendly whilst permitting you just the right amount of privacy. The guest area is the whole top floor of the house and is incredibly spacious. Our room itself was very large with both a single and a double bed (very comfy), an attached bathroom, sitting area, balcony, and dining area where we separately ate all our meals. The meals are prepared by Dhammi and are a great way to experience authentic Sri Lankan home cooked food. We paid $5USD per person for each meal but she always served us more than enough - we never went hungry and it came with all the extras - tea, coffee, juice, and something sweet after each dinner. Plus the service was great, everything set out on the dining table upstairs for us when it was ready. 

Cham is very knowledgable and passionate about his hometown and really encouraged us to get the most out of our time in Kandy. He took us to a great Ayurvedic massage and to a lookout with a view over the whole city on our first night. On the second day we had him arrange a trip to sigiriya for us. He drove us there and accompanied us, and he even brought some great rotti and some other snack to have once we reached the top. We Also had stops along the way at the best ever juice bar - so good we went back on the way home! He also took us to two amazing temples (one Hindu, one Buddhist) on his recommendation instead of going to dambulla where all tourists go. We trusted him on this and ended up very satisfied with his recommendation - we paid 250lkr to enter each temple rather than 1500 to enter Dambulla, and the ones we went to seemed much more authentic (we did stop for a photo at the front of dambulla and it seemed very much to have been commercialized for tourists). In the afternoon we then went on a safari at Habarana where we had an exhilarating experience of being chased by an angry elephant! And saw loads of elephants there. In between all these attractions Cham was more than happy to answer all our questions about Sri Lankan culture during the drive. He also shared with us much about his life, which was very interesting. 

we were very happy with our experience and we are missing the Anniewatte house - the accommodation since hasn't quite matched it :-) should also mention that the shower is hot and good pressure - I have since found this is hard to come by in Sri Lanka! 

A true delight! 

I stayed at this place for 2 nights. A very kindly host, well received, a ride to a fancy traditional massage, a wonderful family, a spacious (and you can even say a huge) room, a large bathroom in modern style. A great price-quality ratio. There is a guest kitchen where you can make tea. It takes 15 minutes to the city center, a maximum of 20, but you can also get there by bus for 10 rupees. Plus, you sleep in silence and around a bunch of greenery. If I'm back in Kandy, I'll stop here. The downside is that finding this place on my own is difficult, but you can get a tuk-tuk at the first time.

It's not very far from the city centre(20min walk downhill). But you can only walk to the centre except you wanna take tuk tuks. And there are a supermarket and restaurants nearby. The room is cozy enough to live in. When I was living in, there was a problem about the hot water, and the host was very patient to solve it. Most importantly, the host is very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended!!
