Awesome food, generous portions, very reasonable price, excellent host. We had curry rice which actually consisted of numerous mainly vegetarian  dishes. Saman even showed us various exotic veggies and fruit that she used in the dishes. Highly recommend. 

Lunch

Customer service is very bad. Don't know how to deal with customers. We had to wait nearly one hour till our food is served. Then we politely asked them to hurry up a bit.After that the owner was full arguing with us about it.they charged Rs.1500/= for 30 string hoppers dhal and sambol.

Charging too much, Avoid this place.

We wanted to have dinner and we asked for prawns, spaguetti frutti di mare, and some pizzas. We waited for more than an hour and a half.... And when they brought the prawns, the smell was horrible: they were rotten! We told the owner and he withdrew the plate; a few minutes later, he brought it back and the smell was the same: the prawns were in bad condition, decomposed. When we said it again, the owner looked bad at us. Minutes later, the spaghetti frutti di mare... with decomposed prawns also came!! The horrible smell came miles ago. And, of course, we said it to the owner. He got absolutely angry, threw the plates to the floor, wanting us to go... He thought we couldn't tell him that the cavalry was in bad condition, decomposed!! We waited because he was the same. We had the same experience during the most violent days in Sri Lanka, the most violent days in which we had been in the country, the most violent days in which we had been in the country, the most violent days in which we had been in the country, the

 Rotten prawns/Owner rude

We stayed here for two nights and found very nice clean and cozy rooms immersed in the green. We always ate at the guest-house restaurant because everything was delicious! Pizza was excellent! In fact people came from the nearby hotels too! highly recommended!!!

Excellent restaurant and fantastic location

We went to saman’s place for dinner with a party of four. The location is on the road, lighted with anti-mosquito torches, overall a good atmosphere. The host greeted us very warmly and, as he found out our nationality, he entertained us with a very good Italian. The food was a great surprise: we got some fried rice, some rice with curry sides and a pizza. Everything was really tasty. I absolutely recommend it. At the end of the dinner, the colleague of the host drove us to the hotel in a tuc tuc.

Very good food and host

Me and my friend ended up in Saman’s by accident. The guesthouse is only a few minutes by foot away from the golden- and cave temples. The room was comfortable and clean. We were the only guests staying there that night, because of the low season, but we were treated like royalty. I think every single member of the Saman family came by to have a little chat with us. In the evening we were surprised with a lovely honeymoon-like dinner, complete with a ten dish rice table, coconut torches and a fruit dessert (that they went to get us from the neighbours across the street). After saying goodbye, they made sure we got on the right bus to our next destination. A stay at Saman’s is, in my opinion, a great example of Sri Lanka’s warm hospitality.

Friendly family and relaxed stay

With clean and spacious rooms , a great service almost a one on one experience , excellent WiFi .. I really can’t say how top rated this place should be but just try it for yourself , we even had a guy a friend of the family  take us to Sigiriya rock without any question of payment , lovely people of which it was a pleasure to spend time with , if your in dambulla and want somewhere to stay hunt this place down you will relish the experience 

Nothing too much trouble 

Super welcoming team, very nice guesthouse. The staff and their boss were much more than arranging with me, one of the best guesthouses after 2 months of traveling to SLK. Good rooms, good food, superb team, run!!!

On top of it!

We were sleeping in the next guest house and happened to be here by chance. Despite the long wait (for which they immediately apologized) we ate well and much. The food is good, we took boiled rice with vegetables that we were served in bowls apart from mixing with the rice. The person who served us explained to us what we were eating, giving a name to the various foods in the bowls and explaining how they were cooked. The owner, a guy who studied in Italy, instead, kept chatting at the end of the evening. Together with the food we ordered the juice of the very good one too. To conclude, they brought us the fruit in tribute, I have to say the excellent service! The prices are not exactly those dishes, we have spent 2500 days in Sri Lanka, but it's worth mentioning the particularity of the mangoes and the street food.

The Saman's Guesthouse in Dambulla is a restaurant that you should definitely visit when you are in Dambulla. On the main road, 500 metres north of Dambulla Cave Temple, is the guesthouse, which is both a hotel and a restaurant. We went into the restaurant without much expectation and were quickly taken by surprise. Although there was only one dish, simply called Rice & Curry, but it was incredibly refined, tasty and impressive. Why were we so excited? At the big rice steak there were 11 different curry recipes, such as daal (lenses), highly caramelised egg yolks, rettich-salt, banana leafsalt, red caramel-salt, and, according to the guests, a whole variety of curry dishes were also served in the next portion of the Dambulla meal, and I was told that it would be a pre-salt, and the next portion of the curry soup, etc.
