Pension Gades

We have friends who live in Cabezon de la Sal so we decided to visit there on our tour of Spain - Pension Gades appeared to be in a central location for us (and turned out to be round the corner from our friends house!). Granted it is above a busy bar so can be noisy but the bar closed at midnight on our first night and earlier the following night so we were never kept awake by noise from it. You enter from a door at the back of the building (there is a very secure lock on the outside door) and up a flight of stairs to a lovely landing with 2 comfortable settees and coffee table. There are 3 rooms off the landing - ours faced the front and had a small balcony with nice pots of plants on it. The whole place was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with lovely bedding and nice furniture. The bathroom was great with a walk in shower and complimentary toiletries. It is close to the town centre and within easy reach of many bars and restaurants - we were actually surprised to find how many lovely restaurants there were in the town. There is free wifi but it could be a bit hit and miss though that didn't bother us too much. The staff in the bar were friendly and helpful - and we got a lovely cup of coffee there our first morning plus a bit of tortilla for breakfast. They don't include breakfast but there are plenty of places round about to get something. It was such great value and comfortable that I felt as if I was staying in a 3* hotel. There is no safe in the room but we have a small portable one which we can attach to a radiator to keep passports and some money in - though the place was so secure I don't think we really needed to use it. All in all, if we ever go back to that part of Spain we would certainly stay there again as we really enjoyed our stay there and were sorry to leave
