Porto Sea Apartments

First of all, FANTASTIC service and support from Bozena, who looked after us throughout our trip and made lots of helpful recommendations for things to do and see. We went with our 5-year-old to the Primavera Sound music festival, which takes place in the Parque de Cidade across the road from the apartment. The apartment is between the beach and the park, so it was a perfect location. Nice little cafe, ice-cream place and acai bar at the bottom of the building. The supermarket is right across the street, very convenient for self-catering (it also has a little cafe that does extremely cheap breakfasts). There's a bunch of great restaurants around too, from traditional seafood places to sushi restaurants and so on. The apartment itself was wonderful, very airy and spacious, spotlessly clean, well-equipped kitchen (including washing machine), comfortable beds. It was surprisingly quiet at night, despite there being a music festival going on. The balcony was a highlight - sitting the morning with a coffee looking out at the ships crossing the harbour, or looking down at the public square with a beer before dinner. It's about a 25min bus ride to and from central Porto, and we managed to easily squeeze in a couple of afternoons of traditional tourism (port tasting, visit to Serralves art gallery, etc). We also really enjoyed the Senhor de Matosinhos festival, closer to the apartment in the Matosinhos area, which Bozena recommended. This had a big funfair for kids, lots of food stalls and merchandise on sale etc. It runs from May to June, take a look if you're visiting during this time. The aquarium is also within walking distance.
