I'm hesitant to write this because I'm afraid that I would be adding to the popularity of this hotel, and I selfishly want to keep it a hidden gem for myself. My wife and I stayed here for a week and we absolutely fell in love with it. It is a quiet sanctuary in the middle of Lisbon. The location is ideal, with easy walking distance to much of Lisbon's other neighborhoods. The hotel itself is full of old world charm, almost as if taking you back in time. The hotel is quiet and romantic, has more of a Bed and Breakfast tone, and lacks the busyness and hectic pace of the larger high-rise style hotels. If you're looking for a more authentic, old world charm, as if staying in someones house filled with charm and old world character, then this is the ideal place. I feel as though staying at Casa Balthazar made our trip so much more enjoyable and tranquil. The staff is so warm, inviting, and accommodating. I could not imagine staying anywhere else on our next Portugal trip.
